Since 2001, Cosfest has been a look-out-for event at Downtown East yearly. Kudos to Stephanie and Takahan Singapore Cosplay Club for their hard work and devotion to promoting cosplay in Singapore over the past eleven years.
Cosfest XI at Downtown East
I covered quite a few previous years Cosfest on this blog – Cosfest X.2 (2012), Cosfest VIII – A Very Happy Event (2009), Cosfest VII – Super Henshin (2008), Cosfest VI – The Golden Experience (2007) and Fiesta@Orchard 2007 (special appearance by Singapore living legend, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew!).
This year, I went down to support the event too. My wife was there too to do a story for Straits Times. I had fun introducing her to Cosfest and a little bit of history on cosplay in Singapore.

If you know nothing about cosplay or the characters, then I’d suggest you keep all comments to youself. Your intelligent attempt at captioning could have offended more people than you realise.
I did put a disclaimer that I can’t name many of the characters. If anyone can name all the characters, by all means leave a comment here. Seriously, how can anyone know every single characters out there?
Please point out how I was “offensive” with my captioning. Did I use any degrading terms like “ugly”, “fat”, “disgusting”, etc to describe any cosplayers?
Describing the physical colour and parts of the costume = offensive captioning?
I am sorry there are people out there who are so easily offended. Too bad.
I cannot name every single one, but I do know quite a few of them.
As for the comment regarding ‘offensive’ captioning… I guess it’s more like, describing the costume with its parts, props or colour seems just a bit redundant, as people can see it on the picture itself, so captions like that aren’t particularly…helpful.
So some people would probably have preferred if the pictures hadn’t been captioned.
I mean no offense.
Anyway, I will attempt to name as many as I can, starting from the top:
(Allow me to firstly say beforehand, that I don’t always follow the series that I recognise the characters from, so I may not know every other character in that series…if there are other characters of the same series in the pic, I’m sorry if I don’t know their names.)

Cosplayers’ inside jokes – while I don’t know the characters, the signs they are holding have phrases often used in online gaming, so I would suppose they are characters from one such game.
Final fantasy characters – Only one of the three is from Final Fantasy. White top, purple rope – Sasuke from Naruto. Yellow sash, blue skirt – Yuna from FF10. I forget who the one in red is, but her character looks familiar.

‘Love this cosplayer’s costume and wings’ – Michael from Angel Sanctuary
Planking – Brook from One Piece (but yes, planking is correct too.)

Stop, stop or we will shoot – I believe they’re from Gundam, although I have not watched any of the Gundam series myself. Sorry if it’s wrong.

Sweet young cosplayer – actually I am not sure if she is actually cosplaying as a character, or just dressing up in lolita style. Seems to be the latter though.

I can’t get over the stuck up comments regarding captioning. Personally I’d like to thank the blogger for taking the time to photograph all the great cosplay characters! I chanced upon this entry for the first time today and I’m just happy I have the opportunity to appreciate the images that have been captured. I wouldn’t dream of having the audacity to criticise how they’ve been presented! The only offensive thing on this post is the top comment from someone who doesn’t even have the decency to leave their name.
On a more positive note, thanks for sharing! I’m from a very westernised country but I love anime and manga too!
