Bhutan is stepping boldly into the future of travel. In June 2025, Binance CEO Richard Teng arrived in the Kingdom to mark the official launch of its national partnership with Binance Pay, a move set to revolutionize tourism through crypto-powered convenience.
As part of the launch, a group of international influencers from major global markets were invited to experience Bhutan using only their Binance Pay wallets. From luxurious lodges to local cafés, traditional farmstays, bustling markets, and remote cultural gems, the cashless adventure highlights how seamless crypto transactions can transform the travel experience.
Since the partnership was first announced in May 2025, the number of crypto-enabled merchants in Bhutan has surged from 100 to over 1,000 vendors — making the Himalayan kingdom one of the most crypto-accessible destinations in the world.
This initiative is part of Bhutan’s broader vision to blend tradition with innovation. By integrating blockchain technology into tourism, the country aims to drive financial inclusion, rural development, and travel diversification — all aligned with its forward-looking projects like the Gelephu Mindfulness City Special Administrative Region.
