McDonald’s Singapore has officially said goodbye to its iconic plastic cutlery, marking a significant milestone in its journey toward sustainability. In a heartfelt farewell, the brand announced that its plastic forks, spoons, and knives have “retired,” making way for eco-friendly wooden alternatives.
As of December 2024, all McDonald’s outlets in Singapore have completed the transition to wooden cutlery following a phased rollout that began in October 2024. This change underscores the brand’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and supporting a greener future.
The shift to wooden cutlery is expected to eliminate 26 million plastic utensils annually, equating to approximately 250,000 kilograms of plastic waste—the weight of 125 electric cars.
