DBS/POSB Customers Embrace Digital Ang Baos, Ushering in a New Era of Lunar New Year Gifting

As the Lunar New Year approaches, DBS/POSB is once again at the forefront of blending tradition with innovation. Last year, the popularity of digital Ang Baos surged, with the number of customers gifting digitally doubling year-on-year. During the Year of the Dragon, over 70% of customers tried digital gifting for the first time, transferring an impressive SGD 39 million via the bank’s QR Ang Bao and eGift services.

For the Year of the Snake, DBS/POSB is elevating the digital gifting experience with refreshed features and exciting rewards to make celebrating even more meaningful and convenient.

Digital Gifting Takes Center Stage

1. Redesigned QR Ang Bao

DBS’s physical-digital QR Ang Bao blends tradition with technology. Customers can now choose between the classic DBS Ang Bao design and a new, playful POSB Smiley mascot version. With the familiar slot-in style, managing and tracking up to 10 QR Ang Baos is effortless via the DBS PayLah! app. Recipients simply need a PayLah! or PayNow-linked bank account to redeem.

For added convenience, customers can order QR Ang Baos online through the Click-and-Deliver service until 8 January 2025 or collect them at DBS/POSB branches.

2. Enhanced Personalisation for eGift

The popular PayLah! eGift service now lets users add a personal touch by uploading photos and festive stickers. Ideal for those unable to celebrate in person, this feature brings heartfelt blessings to loved ones anytime, anywhere.

3. ,888 Abundance Giveaway

From 7 January to 18 February 2025, customers who send eGifts or load QR Ang Baos with at least SGD 8 stand a chance to win over 1,000 prizes, including SGD 8,888 cash rewards. Keeping cash withdrawals under SGD 500 during the period boosts eligibility.

Support for Traditional Cash Gifting

For those who prefer cash-filled red packets, DBS/POSB offers seamless options:

  • Online Notes Reservation (7–19 January): Customers can book Fit or new notes in denominations of SGD 2, SGD 10, and SGD 50 for collection at their preferred branch.
  • Pop-Up ATMs (14–28 January): 72 pop-up ATMs across 48 locations will dispense Fit and new notes, with 50% more machines offering Fit notes to reduce environmental impact. Real-time queue updates are available via a pop-up ATM heatmap.

Special arrangements, including walk-in services and dedicated collection slots, are available for seniors and customers with disabilities.

Festive Savings for DBS/POSB Cardmembers

This Lunar New Year, DBS/POSB cardholders can enjoy exclusive deals, such as:

  • A free can of abalone with SGD 228 spent at Sheng Siong for POSB Everyday cardmembers.
  • 1-for-1 mini abalone cans for PAssion POSB Debit cardmembers (until 31 January).
  • 10% off Yu Sheng at Paradise Group and Din Tai Fung restaurants.
  • Up to 25% off festive set menus at hotels like The Westin Singapore and Goodwood Park Hotel.
  • SGD 88 cashback for meeting spending goals via PayLah!

Promoting Digital Gifting Awareness

To encourage digital adoption, DBS/POSB will host workshops and campaigns in collaboration with community partners like the Infocomm Media Development Authority and RSVP Singapore.
