Singapore Turf Club Offers Free Admission for Queen Elizabeth II Cup 2024 If You Register Early

In the lead-up to the Grand Singapore Gold Cup (GSGC) on October 5, 2024, the Singapore Turf Club (STC) is gearing up to host the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Cup on September 7, 2024. As part of the Homestretch Celebrations, which commemorate STC’s storied 180-year history as the heart of Singapore’s horse racing, this event promises to be a memorable day for racing enthusiasts.

In a gesture of appreciation, STC is offering free admission to the Grandstand Level 1 for the QEII Cup race meeting, allowing fans to be part of this iconic race.

A Race Steeped in Heritage

The QEII Cup is more than just a race; it’s a tribute to the legacy of horse racing in Singapore. The inaugural QEII Cup took place on February 20, 1972, during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s first state visit to Singapore, where she was joined by the late Prince Philip and Princess Anne. The race, held at the Bukit Timah Racecourse, attracted nearly 26,000 spectators and was won by legendary jockey Lester Piggott aboard the Ivan Allan-trained Jumbo Jet.

The Queen and Prince Philip returned to STC on March 18, 2006, marking another historic moment at the Kranji Racecourse. Her Majesty presented the trophy to jockey Richard Lim, who led King And King to victory.

Since its upgrade to Group 1 status in 2016, the QEII Cup now boasts a $300,000 prize and covers 1,800 meters on turf.

Discover the “Queen Elizabeth II Cup Heritage Walk”

Adding to the excitement, racegoers can explore the “Queen Elizabeth II Cup Heritage Walk,” a special exhibit that highlights the origins and evolution of the QEII Cup. Located along the walkways leading to the STC Grandstand from the Kranji MRT station and the taxi/drop-off point, this bilingual exhibit showcases key moments in Singapore’s racing history.

How to Register for Free Admission

Due to the overwhelming response to the recent Singapore Derby free admission, STC is once again offering complimentary access to Grandstand Level 1 for the QEII Cup. Adults aged 18 and above can register for free tickets in two ways:

  1. Online: Register for tickets today here. As availability is limited, early registration is encouraged.
  2. In-Person: Collect tickets on race days—August 18, August 25, and September 1—from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at STC’s MRT Plaza, taxi/drop-off point, and Grandstand Level 1. Tickets can also be collected on September 7, 2024, at the MRT Plaza and taxi/drop-off point, while supplies last.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of this historic event at the Singapore Turf Club.
