Huawei Tech4City Competition 2024 Returns, Offering SGD$20,000 Grand Prize for Innovative Solutions

Huawei is thrilled to announce the comeback of the Tech4City Competition 2024, a flagship event aimed at fostering technological innovation for social good in Singapore. This prestigious competition, centered around harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to empower young talents, provides a platform for participants to transform their creative ideas into tangible solutions, with substantial support and resources for prototype development.

Under the overarching themes of AI for Inclusivity and AI for Sustainability, Huawei Tech4City 2024 invites individuals aged 18 to 35 to register in teams of three to six members. From March 26 to June 9, 2024, participants will have the opportunity to vie for the coveted Grand Prize of SGD$20,000 in cash. Additionally, the top five teams will each receive SGD$2,000 funding to materialize their prototypes, turning their visions into reality. Notably, sponsored prizes focusing on mobility innovation, as well as advancements in built environment and illumination, aim to address real-world challenges and incentivize impactful solutions.

Beyond the competition, Huawei Tech4City offers an array of opportunities for participants to enhance their skills and network through tech skills-enhancement programs, fast-tracked access to Huawei’s global initiatives, and potential internship opportunities. This initiative underscores Huawei’s commitment to nurturing talents in alignment with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, contributing to the nation’s sustainable development agenda.

In support of the national Digital for Life (DfL) movement, which promotes digital literacy and technology integration in daily life, Tech4City collaborates with various partners across government agencies, industry players, knowledge institutions, and community organizations. With an expanded network of partners, including entities such as the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), SBS Transit, and leading universities, Tech4City aims to create a vibrant ecosystem conducive to innovation and social impact.

The competition’s submission criteria emphasize originality, research insights, proposed solutions, and social value based on the designated themes. Participants must also be available to attend the onsite final pitch in Singapore.

Building on the success of previous editions, which attracted over 740 participants and inspired 180 ideation proposals, Tech4City Competition 2024 promises to ignite creativity and drive meaningful change in Singapore’s technological landscape.
