Marina Bay Sands Welcomes the Year of the Dragon with Dazzling Lunar New Year Extravaganza

Marina Bay Sands is gearing up to usher in the Year of the Dragon with a spectacular showcase of festivities during The Dragon Awakens: 2024 Light Up on February 6, 2024, starting at 7 pm. This anticipated evening promises a visual spectacle featuring dragon and lion dance performances, koi dancers, and a contemporary Chinese art display by the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre. The highlight of the event will be a breathtaking drone show along the Marina Bay waterfront, featuring an impressive fleet of 1,500 synchronized drones, marking it as the largest drone show in Singapore to date.

A Night of Cultural Extravaganza

The heart of the celebration will beat at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands’ Grand Colonnade, where two stunning 40-meter-long dragons will be unveiled in front of the grand 15-meter-tall Dragon’s Gate. These installations, adorned with captivating shades of aquamarine, teal, and purple, narrate an inspiring tale of perseverance leading to prosperity, echoing the Chinese mythology ‘The Legend of the Dragon Gate.’ The decorations, including 88 koi fish decorations, an iridescent dragon’s pearl, and 28 blooming lotus lanterns, represent a contemporary interpretation of the ancient myth.

After the grand light-up event, visitors can indulge in the Lunar New Year drone light show at the Event Plaza on the Marina Bay waterfront. This marks the beginning of a significant collaboration between the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Marina Bay Sands, and UOB to introduce world-class programming in the precinct. The drone display, themed around prosperity and family reunion, narrates the mythical tale of a koi’s transformation into the Dragon King, soaring triumphantly against Singapore’s iconic city skyline. The show will run at 8 pm on February 6, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18, followed by the breathtaking Spectra – A Light & Water Show at 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm on selected dates.

Immersive Lunar New Year Experience

The Lunar New Year festivities extend to Grand Colonnade South, featuring a prominent 22-meter-long dragon. Visitors are invited to explore their 2024 Chinese zodiac Feng Shui predictions showcased on intricately designed panels reminiscent of the dragon’s gate. Over 100 kumquat trees and floral arrangements will enhance the festive atmosphere across the property, while the iconic three towers of Marina Bay Sands and the ArtScience Museum’s facade transform into canvases for Lunar New Year-themed projections and animations from February 9 to 24.

Spectacular Views from Above

On February 10, the iconic SkyPark Observation Deck will host Dragon in the Sky, offering a remarkable vantage point for The Legend of the Dragon Gate – Drone Show by the Bay from a height of 56 storeys. Guests can secure front-row seats for the awe-inspiring drone display on February 10, 11, 16, and 17 at 8 pm. Tickets are priced at S$58 for general admission and S$48 for Sands LifeStyle members, as well as UOB and selected Citibank cardholders. Terms and conditions apply.

Digital Fireworks and Culinary Delights

From February 6 to 24, Digital Light Canvas by teamLab within The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands will be illuminated with a digital fireworks display. Digital Light Canvas ticketholders can interact with the art installation by scanning designated QR codes, choosing firework displays, and witnessing them translated into large, three-dimensional fireworks on the 14-meter-tall light sculpture. This dynamic and evolving art installation provides a delightful and creative activity suitable for guests of all ages.

Throughout February, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands will host a variety of Lunar New Year feasts. PUTIEN, JUMBO Signatures, Dallas Café & Bar, Punjab Grill, CÉ LA VI, Sen of Japan, TWG Tea, and Venchi offer sumptuous Lunar New Year-themed menus, beverages, and chocolates, creating a gastronomic journey for visitors.

Entertainment and Rewards for All

Visitors are invited to embark on a magical journey through a century of Disney’s animated wonders at Immersive Disney Animation at Sands Theatre until February 25, starting at S$33 (excluding booking fee) for a captivating Lunar New Year celebration.

Sands LifeStyle members can enjoy a range of rewards and perks until February 19, including vouchers for shopping and dining with a minimum spend, as well as bonus Resort Dollars for accumulated spending.
