Air New Zealand to Launch New Non-Stop Singapore to Christchurch Service from 28 October

Air New Zealand is set to significantly expand its Singapore operations with the launch of a new non-stop service between Singapore and Christchurch, opening up more direct access to New Zealand’s South Island for international travellers.

Starting 28 October, the new Christchurch route will operate three times a week, adding more than 34,000 seats over the season and strengthening travel options for Singapore-based travellers heading to New Zealand during the peak period. The service complements Air New Zealand’s existing Singapore to Auckland route and forms part of a wider seasonal capacity increase that the airline plans to announce later this month.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Nikhil Ravishankar said the expansion reflects the airline’s focus on improving accessibility to New Zealand and making the destination more appealing to global visitors. The new route is expected to benefit not only direct travellers from Singapore but also those connecting through the city from the United Kingdom, Europe, India, and other parts of Southeast Asia.

The Christchurch services will be operated using Air New Zealand’s retrofitted Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, marking the first time this upgraded aircraft will be deployed on this route. The refurbished cabins feature redesigned Business Premier seating, an updated Premium Economy experience, and refreshed Economy class cabins. Passengers can also expect enhanced inflight entertainment and improved comfort tailored for long haul journeys.

Flights are already on sale and will operate through the Northern Winter season, subject to regulatory approvals. The added capacity is expected to further boost tourism and connectivity between Singapore and New Zealand’s South Island, a destination known for its natural landscapes and outdoor experiences.
