Korean Air Unveils New Flagship Lounges at Incheon, Completing 42-Month Transformation

Korean Air has officially completed a sweeping 42-month overhaul of its lounge facilities at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2, marking a major milestone in its premium service strategy. The airline revealed its newly renovated flagship First Class and Prestige Class West Lounges, which opened on April 17 and April 16 respectively.

Backed by a KRW 110 billion investment, the transformation more than doubles Korean Air’s total lounge capacity at the terminal, positioning the airline to accommodate rising passenger volumes ahead of its planned integration with Asiana Airlines.

Designed around the concept of a “home away from home,” the revamped lounges focus on comfort, privacy, and elevated dining experiences.

First Class Lounge: A Private Luxury Retreat

Spanning 921 square meters, 2.3 times larger than its predecessor, the new First Class Lounge emphasizes exclusivity and tranquility. The space is thoughtfully divided into an open hall and 11 private suites, allowing guests to enjoy a secluded pre-flight experience.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Korean architecture, the interior incorporates wooden pillars, exposed beams, and ramie (mosi) textures. Upon arrival, passengers are guided directly to private suites, reinforcing a sense of personal space and calm.

Dining is elevated through an à la carte menu rooted in traditional recipes that highlight natural flavors. Meals are presented using premium tableware, including pieces from Christofle, Bernardaud, and Baccarat, alongside Korean artisans such as Lee Ki-jo and Lee Hyung-geun.

The lounge also doubles as a curated art gallery, showcasing works by globally renowned artist Anish Kapoor, as well as prominent Korean artists including Kim Young-joo, Lee Bae, Yoo Bong-sang, and Chae Sung-pil. The collection reflects traditional Korean color palettes, particularly deep tones of yellow and black.

For relaxation, a dedicated wellness zone features premium massage chairs, while shower suites include private booths and powder rooms for added convenience.

Prestige Class West Lounge: Scale Meets Sophistication

At 2,615 square meters with over 420 seats, the Prestige Class West Lounge is now the largest single lounge facility at Incheon International Airport. Its design mirrors Korean Air’s premium cabin aesthetic, using a refined palette of gold, black, and ivory.

The culinary offering is a standout, with an expansive buffet that blends Korean and Western cuisine. Live cooking stations, a full-service bar, and seasonal menu updates enhance the dining experience. Highlights include handmade desserts and traditional Korean snacks like yakgwa, crafted by chefs from Grand Hyatt, as well as soft-serve ice cream and fresh seasonal fruits.

The lounge also incorporates dynamic digital art installations that shift depending on time and viewing angles, adding a modern visual element to the space.

Business travelers are catered to with a dedicated Tech Zone equipped with workstations, while wellness amenities such as massage chairs provide opportunities to unwind before boarding.

Expanding Capacity for Future Growth

With the addition of the new lounges, Korean Air’s total lounge space at Incheon has expanded from 5,105 to 12,270 square meters, while seating capacity has increased from 898 to 1,566.

The airline now operates seven lounges at Terminal 2, including First Class, Miler Club, Prestige East (Left and Right), Prestige West, and Prestige Garden (East and West).

Passengers can plan their visits using the “Korean Air Lounge Reservation” feature available via the airline’s website and mobile app.
