Kallang Wave Mall is set for a major transformation as it embarks on an extensive asset enhancement initiative (AEI) aimed at redefining the space into a vibrant experiential sport and lifestyle destination within Kallang.
Managed by CapitaLand Investment, the mall will remain open throughout the phased upgrade works, which begin in May 2026 and are targeted for completion by 2028.
A standout feature of the revamp is the iconic 21-metre indoor climbing wall, first introduced when the mall opened in 2014. The upgraded version will incorporate real rock elements and extend beyond the roofline, offering climbers sweeping views of the Kallang Basin. Operated by Climb Central, the facility will also include new bouldering walls, catering to both beginners and seasoned climbers.
The rooftop will be transformed into a dynamic sports hub with six sheltered, competition-ready padel courts. Families can also look forward to a brand-new multi-sensory playscape replacing the existing water playground, featuring interactive water elements and a kinetic dry play zone designed for immersive play.
To support fitness enthusiasts, a new end-of-trip facility will be introduced, offering bike parking, bag storage, and shower amenities for cyclists and users of the Stadium Park Connector.
The mall’s transformation will also focus heavily on experiential retail and community engagement. Visitors entering from Stadium MRT will be greeted by refreshed shopfront façades along OCBC Square, including a striking LED screen capable of 3D anamorphic displays.
Among the new tenants is ReFormd Group, which will debut a comprehensive fitness and recovery concept. This includes a full-service gym, personal training, cold plunge pools, ice baths, and a retail component tailored to modern active lifestyles.
Runners will find a new hub in New Balance’s Run Hub, designed as a community flagship offering training sessions, expert guidance, and regular running events to bring together athletes of all levels.
Sports retail will also be elevated with a performance-focused flagship by Key Power Sports, featuring brands like XTEP, 2XU, and Speedo. These concepts will integrate retail with programming such as training clinics and workshops.
Pet owners are not left out, with Mutts & Mittens set to open a comprehensive pet community hub along the park connector. The space will include a pet pool, grooming services, boarding facilities, a bakery, and retail offerings, alongside weekend activities like dog sports and community walks.
Beyond sports and wellness, the revamped mall will feature curated dining concepts, including cafés, family-friendly restaurants, and bistro-pub experiences. New alfresco dining areas along the waterfront aim to create a lively social atmosphere for visitors to unwind after workouts or workdays.
As part of the phased redevelopment, several facilities will be temporarily closed or relocated. Splash-N-Surf has already shut for renovation and is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2027 as part of the new rooftop playscape.
Meanwhile, the Singapore Sports Museum is also closed and will return in the third quarter of 2027 with a refreshed, immersive concept designed to better showcase Singapore’s sporting heritage.
