YASHICA Launches JOURNEY Camcorder, a Compact 4K Video Device for Creators on the Move

Yashica has unveiled its latest addition to the consumer imaging lineup with the launch of the JOURNEY Camcorder, a compact 4K video device designed for creators, travelers, and everyday storytellers. The new camcorder is currently available through the brand’s crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Built with portability and ease of use in mind, the JOURNEY camcorder weighs just 167 grams, making it light enough to slip into a pocket or bag for spontaneous filming anywhere. Despite its small footprint, the device delivers 4K video recording, allowing users to capture detailed footage of their adventures, events, or creative projects.

Designed for Flexible Shooting

The JOURNEY camcorder is equipped with a 115-degree wide-angle lens, enabling users to capture expansive landscapes, group moments, and immersive scenes. A 270-degree flip-out 2.2-inch IPS touch screen provides flexible framing options, making it convenient for both traditional filming and self-recording for vlogs or social media content.

The camcorder also features a focus range from 0.5 meters to infinity, alongside adjustable manual recording controls, giving users the freedom to fine-tune their shots.

Enhanced Audio and Connectivity

For improved audio quality, the JOURNEY includes internal recording capabilities and supports external microphones via a 3.5mm input. This allows creators to capture clearer sound for interviews, travel videos, or independent productions.

Connectivity is another highlight. With built-in Wi-Fi, users can quickly transfer videos to their smartphones through the YASHICA App, streamlining the process of editing and sharing content online.

Powering the device is a battery capable of up to 100 minutes of continuous recording, with USB-C fast charging support. The camcorder can also record while charging, enabling longer shooting sessions with minimal interruption.

More Than Just Video

In addition to video recording, the JOURNEY camcorder can capture still images at 8MP, with interpolation up to 20MP, offering added versatility for documenting trips, special occasions, or everyday moments.

The device comes in two minimalist colour options: Black and White, reflecting different aesthetic styles while maintaining a clean, modern design.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Pocket-sized portability: Lightweight 167g design for easy everyday carry
  • 115° wide-angle lens: Capture broader scenes and group shots

A Focus on Sustainability

The device is built using durable materials intended to withstand frequent travel and daily use, reducing the need for frequent replacements. The adoption of USB-C universal charging also helps minimize electronic waste while ensuring compatibility with modern charging systems.

By emphasizing high-resolution 4K recording, the brand aims to preserve personal memories in lasting quality, ensuring footage remains usable and visually sharp for years to come.
