Singapore to Make Historic Debut at FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier 2026 at The Kallang

Basketball fans, mark your calendars! Singapore is set to host the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier 2026 at OCBC Square, The Kallang on 11 and 12 April, with Team Singapore making its highly anticipated debut. Twelve top teams, six men’s and six women’s, will battle for the final spots at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 in Warsaw, Poland, making this a must-watch showdown for 3×3 basketball enthusiasts.

Singapore’s Historic First Appearance

This year’s qualifier marks Singapore’s first participation in a FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier. Both the men’s and women’s teams arrive buoyed by their historic qualification for 3×3 basketball at the Commonwealth Games, and they aim to continue their record-breaking run by securing a ticket to the global stage.

The tournament follows a high-stakes format: teams must finish in the top two of their pool to advance to the second round. Winners of the second round automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the remaining teams face off in a final decider for the last chance to advance.

Men’s Competition

  • Pool A: Czechia, Singapore, Brazil
    • Czechia, ranked 18th globally, are SEA Games silver medallists and recent U23 World Cup bronze medallists, posing a strong challenge for Singapore.
  • Pool B: New Zealand, Italy, Egypt
    • New Zealand (21st) and Italy (22nd) are regional rivals, while Egypt (48th) rounds out the pool.

Singapore’s men will face tough competition but hope to leverage home-court advantage to make history.

Women’s Competition

  • Pool A: Hungary, Egypt, Lithuania
    • Hungary, the highest-ranked qualifier at 13th in the world, is the favourite, followed by Lithuania (22nd) and Egypt (37th).
  • Pool B: Singapore, Philippines, Brazil
    • Singapore (20th) and regional rival Philippines (19th) will fight for supremacy, while Brazil (62nd) completes the group. Both Southeast Asian teams aim to improve on their last SEA Games performance.
