At Mobile World Congress 2026, vivo unveiled a first look at its upcoming flagship imaging smartphone, the X300 Ultra, marking a major step forward in its professional mobile photography ambitions. The company also confirmed that, for the first time, its most advanced X-series Ultra model will launch in global markets later this year.
The spotlight at vivo’s showcase was firmly on imaging innovation, highlighted by the debut of the industry’s only 400mm equivalent telephoto extender, the vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, designed as a key component of the X300 Ultra’s professional photography kit.
Co-engineered with ZEISS, the new Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra pushes the boundaries of smartphone zoom capabilities. Designed to meet APO imaging standards, the system delivers a full 200MP optical output and maintains exceptional clarity even at a 1600mm digital crop.
Unlike conventional smartphone zoom solutions, the 400mm equivalent extender is engineered to balance powerful magnification with structural efficiency. It incorporates gimbal-grade optical image stabilization (OIS) and advanced motion-tracking focus technology, ensuring stable and precise long-range photography and telephoto video capture.
As mobile imaging increasingly shifts toward professional-grade expression, vivo positions this solution as more than just extended reach, it represents a systemic upgrade across magnification, stabilization, optical performance, and design integration.
Complementing the telephoto extender, vivo introduced a pro-grade Camera Cage purpose-built for the X300 Ultra. The expandable cage features multiple cold shoe mounts and quick-release ports for accessory integration, along with a dual-hand grip to enhance stability during handheld shooting.
To give creators more tactile control, the cage includes dedicated physical shutter and zoom buttons. An integrated multi-level cooling fan ensures sustained performance during intensive video recording sessions. The External Lens Expansion Frame also offers full compatibility with the telephoto extender, creating a comprehensive toolkit tailored for professional creators.
The X300 Ultra builds on vivo’s continued investment in optics engineering, computational photography, and system-level optimization. Previous Ultra models have been widely recognized for their advancements in mobile imaging, solidifying vivo’s presence in the high-end segment.
By confirming the X300 Ultra’s international rollout, vivo signals a more assertive push into the global premium smartphone market. The move underscores the company’s strategy to bring its most advanced imaging technologies to a broader audience beyond its domestic market.
