Dining at OMMA: A Pet-Friendly Korean BBQ Experience in the Heart of Holland Village

Pet parents, rejoice! We have found another amazing restaurant to bring your pets along. We recently checked out OMMA Korean Charcoal BBQ at Holland Village, which now has a designated pet-friendly outdoor dining area. With Singapore slowly becoming more open to pet-friendly spaces, I was curious to see how this would actually play out in a Korean BBQ setting, especially one that uses charcoal grills.

We sat at the alfresco area, and the space immediately felt open and breezy. I did not feel like I had to constantly manage my dog just to be considerate of other diners. There were water bowls, pee trays and full-length fans around, which helped pets settle in more easily. The layout felt well thought out, and I appreciated that the space was clearly designed with pets in mind.

Korean BBQ usually means strong smells and leaving the restaurant smelling like smoke, which is not ideal, especially for daytime plans. Surprisingly, the charcoal grilling here felt much cleaner. The smoke was present but controlled, and by the end of the meal, my hair honestly did not smell that bad. That alone made the experience feel a lot more comfortable, especially for a lunch appointment.

For food, we ordered the Pork OMMA Set, which came with Iberico pork collar, black pork belly and Iberico pork jowl. The cuts were well-marbled and grilled nicely over charcoal, with a subtle smokiness that did not feel too heavy. The pork jowl stood out for me, soft with just enough bite, while the black pork belly had a good balance of fat and meat.

We also added the marinated chicken and beef brisket slices. The marinated chicken surprised me the most. The portion was generous, and the meat stayed very tender even after grilling. It was flavourful without being overwhelming. The beef brisket slices were straightforward and comforting, grilling quickly and picking up the charcoal flavour well.

Midway through the meal, we were also served an original fried Korean chicken bowl. The chicken drumstick was noticeably big, with crispy skin and juicy, flavourful meat inside. It was a nice contrast to the grilled items and did not feel overly greasy.

To balance out the meats, we had the pork kimchi soup and steamed egg. The kimchi soup was packed with ingredients and tasted rich and flavourful without being too heavy.

The steamed egg was light yet hearty, and it really helped cut through the richness of the grilled meats.

Everything was cooked at the table, and the flavours leaned more smoky than greasy. OMMA also lets you choose different wood chips for grilling, which adds subtle layers of flavour without overpowering the food. One detail I did not expect but enjoyed was the assortment of salts at the table. Options like berry pepper salt, seaweed salt and pink salt made it fun to experiment, and each one brought out different flavours in the meats.

For drinks, I liked that OMMA offers Korean beverages instead of the usual options. I tried the Bok Soong Ah Sok Sal peach juice, which came with peach cubes inside. It was refreshing and light, paired well with the grilled food, and helped cleanse the palate between bites.
