Gift a Guitar Charity Auction Launches With Star Power and One-of-a-Kind Collectibles to Empower 600 Youths

A remarkable nationwide movement has officially begun as bidding opens for the Gift a Guitar Charity Auction: an initiative uniting music, creativity, and community to uplift 600 underprivileged youths with access to music education and performance opportunities.

Launched by SGMUSO in partnership with The Rice Company Limited (TRCL), Gift a Guitar will provide brand-new acoustic guitars and structured lessons to youths aged 13 to 19. The programme will culminate at the Sing60 Festival in November 2025 at Fort Canning Park, where selected participants will take the stage alongside professional musicians.

Celebrity Guitars Take the Spotlight

The movement has garnered strong support from some of Singapore’s biggest musical names. Inspired by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s donation of a signed guitar, local and international stars have stepped forward to contribute autographed instruments of their own.

Among the standout contributors:

• JJ Lin, international Mandopop superstar
• Benjamin Kheng, singer-songwriter and actor
• Shabir Sulthan, acclaimed composer-performer
• Taufik Batisah, Singapore Idol winner and beloved vocalist

Each donated guitar will be auctioned to raise funds in support of the Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF), which champions access to the arts for underserved youth.
