Heartland Stories Come to Life with 20 Giant Delight SG60 Community Art Installations Across Singapore

Singapore’s neighbourhoods are set to burst with colour and creativity as 20 Giant Delight SG60 Edition art installations take shape across the heartlands. Presented by the People’s Association (PA) and co-created by residents through the Community Arts & Culture Clubs (CACCs), these large-scale installations celebrate the distinctive stories, heritage, and memories that make each community uniquely Singaporean.

Part of the PAssionArts Festival 2025 and themed “Our Neighbourhood Gems,” the nationwide showcase highlights the everyday places and shared experiences that shape life in the heartlands, from iconic landmarks and beloved food spots to treasured local traditions.

Bringing Local Stories to Life

The Giant Delight SG60 Edition builds on the first series of interactive Mega Giant Delight installations unveiled during the National Day Heartland Celebrations. Featuring life-sized hexagonal pods, the installations transformed common spaces into vibrant storytelling zones and creative play areas.

This second series introduces 15 new installations, each shaped by local artists working closely with residents to reflect the identity and spirit of their neighbourhood.

Voice of Woodlands: Past, Present & Beyond

(Admiralty Giant Delight)

Artist Kelvin Seah traces Sembawang’s transformation from its mangrove and fishing village roots to today’s bustling town centre. Murals and visual motifs highlight the area’s maritime past and evolving community life.

Tanjong Pagar Pagi

(Tanjong Pagar–Tiong Bahru Giant Delight)

Artist Mok Yuin Peng captures the nostalgia of the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, once a beloved hub for travel, food, and family outings. The installation evokes cherished memories like those of 73-year-old resident Mdm Chan Ah Hiok, who recalls running freely around the station as a child.

Neighbours in Bloom

(Radin Mas Giant Delight)

Inspired by the butterfly, a symbol of renewal in Radin Mas, artist Royston Phang celebrates neighbourliness and connection. The design also honours Radin Mas Ayu, the Golden Princess whose story of courage and compassion continues to resonate in the community.

Plate, Play, Pier: A West Coast Story

(West Coast Giant Delight)

Artist Didier Ng brings together the joys of hawker culture, playgrounds, and seaside breezes in a whimsical tribute to everyday life in West Coast. The installation invites residents to reconnect with familiar sights, sounds, and shared memories.

Taman Jurong: A Town in Nature, Nature in a Town

(Taman Jurong Giant Delight)

Artist Lim Jia Ren celebrates Taman Jurong’s close relationship with nature. Featuring Jurong Lake Gardens, playful animal cutouts, and handcrafted elements like a Casuarina tree sculpture, the installation reflects a neighbourhood where greenery and community spirit thrive together.

It’s a Good Place

(Tampines North Giant Delight)

Artist Esther Ng pays tribute to Tampines as one of Singapore’s original eco-towns, featuring lush greenery and connected park networks. A bold TV test-pattern motif, suggested by residents, anchors the installation, a nod to a beloved local mural and the community’s evolving identity.
