The Ordinary Debuts New Science-Backed Lip Serum for Smoother Lips

The Ordinary is entering into lip care with the launch of its first dedicated lip exfoliating product. On 24 September, the brand will officially introduce its PHA 5% Exfoliating Lip Serum, a science-formulated product designed to gently smooth and hydrate the delicate lip area.

The global lip care market, which peaked at

The global lip care market, which peaked at $2.5 billion USD in 2024, shows no signs of slowing down. Despite high demand for products like balms and scrubs, resources on properly caring for lip skin remain limited. The Ordinary is hence looking to step in to address this gap with a chemical exfoliation approach, moving away from traditional physical scrubs that can be harsh on the thin, delicate skin of the lips.

The new serum is powered by Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs), specifically Gluconolactone. Due to its larger molecular size, this ingredient acts as a “gentle giant,” effectively dissolving dead skin cells while providing hydration and supporting the skin barrier. The formula is further enhanced with a blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Citric, Malic, and Tartaric Acid) to aid in smoothing and a natural antioxidant, Daucus Carota Sativa, which gives the serum its signature vivid pink colour that disappears upon application.

For Singaporeans, the timing of the launch is perfect, just ahead of the year-end travel season when we make our way to cooler destinations overseas where our lips can quickly become dry, flaky, or dehydrated.

The PHA 5% Exfoliating Lip Serum is travel-friendly and perfect for on-the-go hydration, delivering gentle exfoliation while leaving lips smooth, plump, and healthy-looking. This serum will be an ideal travel companion to keep lips in top condition in any climate.

Convenience packaging for travel

The Ordinary recommends using the serum two to three times per week. To use, apply a thin layer onto clean, dry lips in the evening with a clean finger and allow it to dry.

The PHA 5% Exfoliating Lip Serum will be priced from S$15 and will be available for purchase from 24 September at The Ordinary counters in Sephora stores and online.
