In honour of Singapore’s 60th birthday, Leica Store South Beach Quarter presents To Stand and To Hold, a poignant photographic exhibition by author, lyricist, multidisciplinary artist, and photographer Dr. Ng King Kang. Running from 21 August to 22 September 2025, the exhibition offers an intimate look at the unsung yet essential parts of the human body: hands and legs.
Captured through the lens of the Leica M11 Monochrom, Dr. Ng shifts the gaze away from faces and fame, spotlighting the quiet strength of limbs that carry memory, discipline, and mastery. These poetic close-ups honour the resilience of Singaporeans whose hands and legs have shaped both their identities and society itself.
The series pays tribute to 21 individuals across generations and disciplines: from chefs, dancers, and athletes to doctors, musicians, and everyday heroes. Each image is paired with a personal reflection, not to highlight celebrity, but to celebrate discipline, character, and lived experience.
