Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has inaugurated a new route connecting King Fahd International Airport in Dammam to Beijing, marking a significant milestone in its expansion efforts. The first flight took off on 28 October 2024, and the route will now operate twice weekly as part of a connecting service from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport.
The launch was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the departure hall, attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Wang Qimin, Consul General of China, Engr. Mohammed Al-Hassany, CEO of Dammam Airports Company (DACO), and Mr. Wail Basaffar, Saudia’s Assistant Vice President of KSA Sales.
This new service makes Dammam the third city in Saudi Arabia to connect with Beijing, alongside Jeddah and Riyadh. With a Boeing B787 Dreamliner deployed on the route, passengers can enjoy Saudia’s signature blend of operational efficiency and comfort.
Expanding Connections and Increasing Capacity
- The new route boosts weekly seating capacity between Saudi Arabia and Beijing to approximately 1,310 seats across four flights, complementing Saudia’s six weekly flights to Guangzhou, which offer 1,966 seats.
- Since launching operations to Beijing, Saudia has flown over 84,890 passengers on 482 flights.
- From January to September 2024 alone, the airline transported 78,560 guests between Saudi Arabia and Guangzhou—a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
