Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Launches Culturepaedia: A Comprehensive Online Resource for Singapore Chinese Culture

The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) proudly announces the launch of Culturepaedia, an all-encompassing online repository dedicated to celebrating and documenting Singapore’s unique Chinese culture. This initiative aims to serve as an invaluable resource for educators, students, and the general public to explore and learn about the evolution and development of Chinese culture in Singapore.

Unlocking a Cultural Treasure Trove

Culturepaedia offers a treasure trove of specially curated articles, making it a go-to reference for anyone interested in Singapore Chinese culture. Developed by SCCC’s Research Unit, established in October 2022, this free platform covers a wide array of topics. Contributions from about 80 experts and researchers have resulted in nearly 150 articles on various subjects, including communities, language and education, popular culture and media, social practices, literature, art, music, and stage performances. Following its launch, the platform will continue to enrich its content and expand the range of topics featured.

A Milestone in Cultural Appreciation

The launch of Culturepaedia marks a significant milestone in SCCC’s mission to foster a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s rich and unique Chinese culture. Articles are available in both Chinese and English, and the repository includes additional resources such as suggested further readings, links to other cultural websites, and relevant videos and audio clips for readers interested in delving deeper into each topic.

Collaborative Effort

SCCC will continue to collaborate closely with academics, researchers, experts, practitioners, and key cultural entities from both the public and private sectors to continuously expand Culturepaedia’s content. This collaborative effort ensures that the repository remains a valuable and relevant resource for understanding and appreciating Singapore Chinese culture.
