Mandala Club Presents Daniel Arsham’s Tribute to Lee Kuan Yew and Artistic Collaborations

Mandala Club has embarked on an inspiring journey to celebrate Singapore’s vibrant creative landscape. At the heart of this endeavor lies a strategic partnership with the Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS), aimed at curating immersive art experiences and fostering dialogue within the local art scene.

The club’s historic premises on 31 Bukit Pasoh Road have been transformed into a vibrant hub for artistic expression, serving as the canvas for a remarkable installation by New York-based contemporary artist Daniel Arsham. This installation, commissioned by Refinery and X3D Studio, pays homage to the late Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding father and first Prime Minister.

Comprising two sculptures crafted from bronze, stainless steel, and patina, Arsham’s artwork captures pivotal moments in Mr. Lee’s life and legacy. “Eroded Bronze LKY Full Body 1:2” portrays Mr. Lee on the cusp of declaring Singapore’s independence, embodying his visionary leadership and resolve in the face of adversity. Meanwhile, “Eroded Bronze LKY Bust 1:1” serves as a timeless testament to Mr. Lee’s wisdom and enduring influence.

The installation, situated within Mandala Club’s historic premises, invites guests and the public to engage with Mr. Lee’s legacy during opening hours, fostering reflection and dialogue.

In addition to Arsham’s installation, Mandala Club has curated a series of thought-provoking panel discussions in collaboration with AGAS. These discussions, hosted in The Analogue Room, explore diverse themes within the art world, from championing women artists in Asia to artist talks and interactive workshops.

Upcoming events at Mandala Club include a Mother’s Day Special Wine & Korean Paper Wrapping Workshop, an Artist Talk with Vivian Eun Lee, and a Cocktail Evening with Wong Keen. These events offer members and guests unique opportunities to engage with artists, gallery owners, and fellow art enthusiasts.

Moreover, Mandala Club’s spaces, including POPI’s and The Analogue Room, showcase an eclectic array of artworks from Singapore-based galleries. From BOL Gallery to Aestheletic Art Gallery, these galleries contribute to a vibrant tapestry of artistic expression, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in creativity and camaraderie.
