Year of the Dragon Extravaganza

Embrace the auspicious vibes of the Year of the Dragon as SYSNMH summons the mythical creature to the festival grounds. Dive into hands-on workshops featuring dragon lantern making, dragon’s beard candy crafting, mythical creatures bag making, temple tours, and more. The festival promises an immersive experience celebrating the rich traditions and symbolism associated with the Chinese New Year.

Family-Friendly Festivities

The festivities extend to family-friendly offerings, including lion dance and festive drumming workshops, heritage trails, storytelling sessions, mini-games, craft activities for children, food tasting, and more. As the sun sets, enjoy melodious Chinese music performances by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and the Chinese wind and percussion ensemble, Reverberance, closing the festival on a high note.

Prosperity All Year LONG Lawn Installation

Explore the cherished tradition of putting up festive decorations associated with the Lunar New Year. SYSNMH decorates its building and compound with auspicious decorations and plants annually. This year, witness the collaboration between SYSNMH and local toy designer and artist Ziqi, featuring the Prosperity All Year LONG lawn installation. Displayed until February 25, the installation showcases the Mononoke Dinos, reimagined mythical dragons symbolizing success, strength, nobility, abundance, and good luck.

Lunar New Year Hongbao Giveaway

Usher in the Year of the Dragon with the Museum Roundtable (MR) and SYSNMH through the Lunar New Year Hongbao Giveaway. Collect specially designed hongbaos from 43 participating museums and galleries, and don’t miss the chance to get the limited edition SYSNMH hongbao for FREE. Limited to the first 50 visitors per day, the giveaway runs from January 12 onwards.

Lion & Dragon Dance, God of Fortune, and Free Admission

Mark February 10 on your calendar for an auspicious start to the Lunar New Year with a free admission lion and dragon dance performance at SYSNMH. Rub shoulders with the God of Fortune, who will be present at the Memorial Hall, distributing sweet treats for a bountiful year. Enjoy free admission to SYSNMH on February 10 and 11, and join the Wan Qing Festival of Spring Open House on February 17 and 18 with some ticketed activities.

Exciting Workshops for All Ages

Engage in a variety of workshops throughout the festival, including Dragon’s Beard Candy Making, Parent-Child Mythical Creatures Bag Making, Dragon Lantern Making, Children Lion Dance, and Festive Chinese Drums. Free Activities, Guided Tours, and Trails

SYSNMH offers a plethora of free activities, including storytelling sessions, drop-in craft stations, Chinese calligraphy try-out, CNY mini-games, and more. Experience traditional Hakka Qilin Dance by Yan Wong Cultural Troupe Singapore, Lunar New Year Family Fun Contest, SCO’s performance at Wan Qing Yuan, and Chinese Wind & Percussion Music by Reverberance. Participate in festive snacks, Mandarin oranges, and tea tasting, offering a delightful fusion of flavors.

Let’s Celebrate with Uncle Ting: Lunar New Year Activity Kit

Children can pick up an activity kit to discover more about the Lunar New Year. Join Uncle Ting for fun activities, including red packet making. Activity kits are given out on a first-come, first-served basis, one per child, while stocks last.
