Unveiling the World’s Neighbourhoods with Hotel Indigo: A Journey of Immersive Travel

Welcome to a world where adventure awaits around every corner, where travel is not just about seeing a place but immersing yourself in its soul. Hotel Indigo, a remarkable jewel in IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, is on a mission to reveal the hidden gems that define a neighborhood, and inspire a new generation of explorers to set out on unforgettable journeys.

Their latest international campaign, aptly named “The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel,” is founded on the belief that when you view the world through a neighborhood’s lens, that very neighborhood can change your world.

Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park – LVL 25

In a recent global survey conducted by Hotel Indigo, a staggering 73 percent of respondents expressed the importance of staying in a hotel deeply connected to the local neighborhood while traveling. Such a connection, they believe, has the power to spark adventurous activities, kindle a desire to try new things, and foster connections with new people. It’s more than just travel; it’s about changing your perspective on the world. Astonishingly, 1 in 2 travelers questioned their life’s course after returning from a trip, with 63 percent making significant life changes. This, my fellow travelers, is the magic of Hotel Indigo’s “The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel” – where you don’t just visit a place, you become a part of it, and you take a piece of it home with you.

Hotel Indigo Saigon The City – Public Area with Seating

Survey Insights:

  • Conducted by YouGov, a renowned international market research and data analytics firm.
  • Survey took place online from 25 July to 3 August 2023, encompassing 6,015 respondents aged 25-44 across the US, UK, Australia, Japan, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

As this global campaign rolls out, Hotel Indigo’s “The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel” is designed to celebrate the discovery, or rediscovery, of some of the world’s most inspiring and culturally rich neighborhoods, both within and outside the hotel.

Hotel Indigo Bintan Lagoi Beach – Sekisah Pavillion

Just as no two neighborhoods are alike, no two Hotel Indigo properties are the same. Each property is a unique reflection of its local neighborhood’s essence. For example, the villas at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach draw inspiration from typical Balinese houses. Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong showcases Peranakan influences through art murals and guestroom floor tiles. Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road pays tribute to the neighborhood’s radio heritage with a wall of wireless radios. Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong’s design is rooted in the village’s fishing heritage. Each property is a gateway to local discoveries, encouraging you to explore something new at every turn.

While the campaign is international in scale, it evokes a distinctly local feeling. The images and videos, tailored for the next-gen explorer, will appear online, on television, in cinemas, on digital billboards, and across various social channels like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This means that your journey with Hotel Indigo starts even before you check in.

Hotel Indigo Bandung Dago Pakar – Lobby Lounge

The survey also uncovered that 55 percent of travelers have altered their plans based on recommendations from locals. In light of this, Hotel Indigo will be creating custom neighborhood guides through strategic partnerships, further igniting your desire to experience an authentically local stay, wherever you may roam.

Hotel Indigo stands as a brand committed to illuminating the world within each neighborhood in a distinctive and authentic way. Currently, there are 145 Hotel Indigo properties open, with another 128 in the pipeline, including new openings in South East Asia, such as Kuala Lumpur in late 2023, and Saigon, Bintan, and Bandung in 2024 (see Annex A for more information). The brand’s ambitious goal is to double its global portfolio over the next three to five years, ensuring that even more travelers can experience the magic of “The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel.”

To top it off, don’t forget to download the IHG One Rewards mobile app. You can now virtually explore select Hotel Indigo properties and the neighborhoods they are nestled in, all through a captivating 360° tour.
