The Reloved Collective to launches its physical store this 4 February with a month-long series of pop-up workshops featuring leading local craftspeople in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Workshops will be held every Sunday, throughout the month of February.

SAORI Weaving

The project will commence with a weaving activity workshop hosted by Natalia Tan.  Participants will get a chance to join textile artist in the pop-up and weave with a Japanese floor loom.

Natalia specializes in freestyle SAORI weaving and also works with unusual materials like shredded plastic, plant vines, and metal wire.

SAORI is a contemporary textile art practice that facilitates mindful creativity through freestyle weaving on a Japanese floor loom. Come join Natalia for her introductory upcycling workshops as she shows how weaving with textile waste is a fun and meaningful way to create anew.

The timings of the workshop are:

  • 6 February (2-4 PM and 4-6 PM)
  • 20 February (4-6 PM)
  • 27 February (4-6 pm)

Single group booking of 2 – 4 pax per session –  $96 / session

Upcycled Lamp Making

Create beautiful lamps out of recycled items with Project Itchy Hands (@projectitchyhands on Instagram).

Instead of throwing away bottles, Shawn Lourdusamy upcycles and customizes them, turning them into artistic bottle lamps to light up people’s homes – a true example of how trash can be turned into treasure. Each participant will be able to bring home a fully functional upcycled lamp after completion of the workshop.

The workshop will take place between 1-2:30 PM, 2:45-4:15 PM and 4:30-6 PM on 13 February.

Cap at 2 couples per session – $180 / couple

Coffee Grinds Soap Making

Jump-start your journey into upcycling with YNG (@y_ng.co on Instagram).

YNG offers an easier reach into a less wasteful, conscientious lifestyle. During this one-hour workshop, participants will be taught the process of drying their own used coffee grinds and how to incorporate used coffee grinds, natural oil into your very own soap bar. The natural soap bar will be pre-made with coconut oil, palm oil, safflower oil, vegetable glycerin and soybean.

The timings of the workshop are:

  • 20 February (1-2 PM and 2:30-3:30 PM)
  • 27 February (1-2 PM and 2:30-3:30 PM)

Cap at 2 couples per session – $100 / couple
