Thailand’s Go-Ang Kaomunkai Pratunam, Michelin Bib Gourmand award winner, will open its doors in Singapore’s NEX shopping mall later this month, as Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, giving Singaporeans a taste of Thai Hainanese chicken rice.
Established in 1960 as a food stall specialising in Hainanese chicken rice in the Pratunam district of Bangkok, Go-Ang Kaomunkai Pratunam quickly gained popularity among locals. Today, the brand is synonymous with the area, and in 2018, the popular eatery was awarded a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand Award in the inaugural Bangkok edition of Michelin Guide.
At the brand’s first overseas outlet, Singaporeans can expect to taste aromatic chicken and rice dishes, soups, their signature braised pork, and their homemade chilli sauce. There are also vegetables, tofu, and fish side dish options, as well as desserts, creating the familiar communal dining experience synonymous with Singapore.
To ensure the authenticity of the cuisine, all kitchen staff were trained by Go-Ang founder Mr. Sombat Pruekpaiboon at the original restaurant in Bangkok. Mr. Sombat Pruekpaiboon is also assisting with the launch of the Singaporean venue to ensure that customers here receive the authentic Go-Ang dining experience.
Go-Ang is managed by The Minor Food Group Singapore, the restaurant group behind Xin Wang Hong Kong Café and ThaiExpress.
Go-Ang Chicken Rice will open on 20 October at NEX Shopping Mall, at unit #B1-05/06, operating from 11am–10pm daily.
