I think by now, everyone with an internet connection would have seen the viral video of a poor bloodied customer being dragged off an overbooked United Airlines flight:
The story drew lots of criticism for United Airlines’ handling of the incident, as well as their CEO’s cold reply on having to “re-accommodate” customers.
The poor bloodied man is David Dao, a 69 years old doctor.
The CEO of United Airlines is Oscar Munoz, 57.
Heavy.com, a real-time news and information portal reaching 35 million unique visitors per month, published two “5 Fast Facts about…” articles on both Dao and Munoz respectively.
The one on Dao dug up a lot of negative stuff about him. Like how he had his medical license suspended for more than 10 years for illegally prescribing patients with painkillers; was involved in a homosexual relationship with a patient; and made sexual advances to his own clinic staff.
The one on Munoz, on the other hand, had glowing things to say about him. Munoz was said to come from a humble background and was the first in his family to graduate college. A month in his job as CEO at Airline Airlines, he was reported to have worked so hard that he had a heart attack and had to get a heart transplant. He also received numerous awards like being named communicator of the year by PR Week this year and one of the 100 most influential Hispanics, according to the Latin Post.
Sometimes, the real news is when you read in between the news or when you put two and two together.
Draw your own conclusion.
