Why you should visit Gardens by the Bay during the SG50 weekend

See the storied figures from Singapore legends at Gardens by the Bay this weekend, brought to life with the help of more than 8,000 orchids and plants. Sixteen types of orchids are on display in the Flower Dome. There’s a different orchid for each floral interpretation of 10 local legends – Tanjong Pagar, Redhill, Sisters’ Island, Bukit Timah, Pulau Ubin, Kusu Island, Sang Nila Utama, Radin Mas, the Merlion and the Singapore Stone.

If you don’t know the fables behind these places, you can read all about them at each display inside the Flower Dome.

If you’re an orchid-lover, you can pick up a brochure at the entrance which will help you identify each orchid.

Also, until August 10, the nightly light and sound show at the Supertree Grove has now been amped up with a SG50 edition. The 20-minute Garden Rhapsody will light up the Supertrees with laser imagery and accompanying music arranged by Bang Wenfu. These songs – a medley of national songs, folk songs and xinyao, are sung by Singapore musicians Robert Fernando, Rani Singam, Benjamin Kheng of The Sam Willows, iNCH, Nathan Hartono, Lou Peixin, Miin Tong and Glory Ngim.

From August 7 – 10, local residents enjoy 50% off tickets to Conservatories. Local senior citizens enjoy free admission until August 31.
