Gardens by the Bay – Supertree Grove

Thanks to the folks from URA and Gardens by the Bay, I was invited on a guided tour to visit the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertree Grove, three of the gardens that form  Gardens by the Bay.

The Supertree Grove was the last garden I visited during my tour, together with my wife and son. You can read about our experience with the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest in my previous blog posts.

These unique trees of up to 16 storeys in height can be found all around the Gardens – twelve at the Supertree Grove, while the remaining six are placed in clusters of threes at the Golden and Silver Gardens.

Providing scale and dimension to the Gardens while marrying the form and function of mature trees, the Supertrees also create height to balance the tall developments in the Marina Bay area.

My family and I took a stroll along the OCBC Skyway, a 128-metre long walkway that connects the two 25-metre Supertrees at the Supertree Grove for a vantage view of the Gardens.

Admission to the Supertree Grove is free, but going on the OCBC Skyway costs $5 per adult and $3 for children aged 3 to 12.

Personally, I prefer visiting the two domes compared to the Supertree Grove, but aesthetically, they are quite attraction-grabbing from a distance and are important elements in the overall look of Gardens by the Bay. 🙂

Highlights (via the official website):

Plants covering the Supertrees
Over 162,900 plants comprising more than 200 species and varieties of bromeliads, orchids, ferns and tropical flowering climbers are planted on the Supertrees.

OCBC Garden Rhapsody
OCBC Bank is the largest sponsor of Gardens by the Bay to date, with sponsorship of OCBC Skyway and the OCBC Garden Rhapsody. When night falls, watch as the Supertrees come alive with a dazzling myriad of light displays bursting across the sky.
