Experience the Authentic Taste of TANYU’s Seven Treasures with the Return of Pig’s Blood

TANYU has brought back one of the key ingredients that was missing from its popular Grilled Fish with Seven Treasures 毛血旺烤鱼, and we recently headed down to try the restored version for ourselves.

The big change? Pig’s blood is back in Singapore, allowing TANYU to bring the dish closer to its original Chongqing-style recipe after years of using winter melon as a substitute.

There is also a limited-time promotion that makes it a good time to try the dish. From now to 31 August 2026, diners who order any regular grilled fish can enjoy a free upgrade worth $6 to the Grilled Fish with Seven Treasures, with prices starting from $49.90 instead of $55.90.

Priced from $55.90 outside of the promotion, the Grilled Fish with Seven Treasures now comes with all seven of its namesake ingredients: pig’s blood, luncheon meat, potato noodles, black fungus, sliced potatoes, seaweed knots and soybean sprouts. These are simmered together with TANYU’s grilled fish in its signature rich and spicy broth.

The pig’s blood comes as soft blood curd with a smooth, almost tofu-like texture. It is fairly mild on its own but absorbs the spicy broth as it cooks, making it a good match with the other toppings. We especially liked having it with the potato noodles and soybean sprouts, which add some chew and crunch to each bite.

Another new addition we tried was the House-baked Pita Bread ($6). Freshly baked in-house and served warm, the fluffy pita can be filled with grilled fish, skewers and toppings before being dipped into the rich grilled fish broth.

We liked the DIY element of this, especially for sharing. You can basically build your own pita pocket with whatever you fancy from the table, then dip it into the broth for an extra hit of flavour.

The refreshed menu also adds several new skewers to pair with the grilled fish. The Pork with Water Bamboo ($4.90) pairs tender pork with crunchy water bamboo, giving the skewer a nice contrast in texture.

The Black Pepper Premium Marbled Beef ($6) combines juicy slices of premium marbled beef with a peppery, savoury coating for a richer bite.

For something sweet, the Snow Pear Peach Gum Dessert ($3.90) combines sweet snow pear with chewy peach gum in a light and refreshing dessert that works well after the spicy grilled fish.
