Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene Review: A Lightweight Wet Floor Cleaner Focused on Hygiene To Replace Traditional Mop

Cleaning hard floors at home often means using two separate tools. A vacuum cleaner removes dust and hair, followed by a mop to deal with sticky spills and footprints. Dyson’s latest floor cleaner attempts to simplify this routine. The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is designed to handle both dry debris and wet messes in one pass while placing a strong focus on hygiene and easy maintenance.

After spending some time using the machine, the Clean+Wash Hygiene feels less like a traditional vacuum cleaner and more like an advanced electric mop. It sits somewhere between a vacuum and a floor washer, and it works best in homes with large areas of hard flooring such as tiles, marble, vinyl or laminate.

It is fairly easy to set up out of the box and intuitive to use. There is no learning curve for this and the parts click together easily and you can start cleaning and washing in no time.

One of the first things I noticed is how light the machine feels.

At 3.82kg, it is relatively easy to push across the floor. Dyson also designed it with a low profile that allows the cleaner to lie almost completely flat. When lowered, the height drops to around 113mm, making it possible to reach under sofas, beds and cabinets without much difficulty.

The design follows the usual Dyson approach with solid build quality and a clean, modern look. The compact size also makes it easier to store, which is useful in smaller Singapore homes where space is often limited.

Unlike many wet and dry cleaners, the Clean+Wash Hygiene does not rely on suction.

Instead, it uses a rotating microfibre roller that scrubs the floor while fresh water is continuously applied. As the roller spins, it lifts dirt and debris while separating dirty water and solid waste into a collection tray inside the cleaner head.

The roller is densely packed with around 84,000 microfibre filaments per square centimetre and includes nylon bristles to improve scrubbing power and hair pickup. In everyday use, the system works well for common household messes. From our expereince, dust, crumbs and small food spills are usually removed in one or two passes.

More stubborn messes such as sticky syrup or dried sauces may require several passes or switching to the Boost mode. The cleaner includes four hydration settings that control how much water is applied to the roller.

Lower settings work well for regular maintenance cleaning, while higher settings help deal with heavier dirt.

The result is generally a clean floor with minimal streaking. As the roller removes most of the water it applies, the surface is left only slightly damp and usually dries fairly quickly. In normal household conditions, the floor dries within a short period without leaving puddles behind.

To enhance the cleaning efficacy, we also tested the device in conjunction with the specialised Dyson 02 Probiotic Hard Floor Cleaning Solution that it comes with. Unlike standard supermarket floor detergents that can create excessive foam and leave a sticky residue, this formula is non foaming. It relies on active enzymes to break down dirt at a microscopic level. Adding this to the clean water tank provided a noticeably deeper clean, and it is also reassuring to know the formula is non toxic and safe for homes with roaming pets and bare feet.

A key part of Dyson’s design is the filter free system.

Instead of sending dirty water through internal pipes and filters, the machine separates wet and dry waste directly in the cleaner head. This helps prevent sludge buildup and reduces the chance of unpleasant smells developing inside the machine.

Maintenance is further supported by the docking station. After cleaning, placing the machine on the dock allows it to run a self cleaning cycle that flushes the roller with fresh water. Once washing is complete, the dock dries the roller with hot air at about 85 degrees Celsius.

This drying feature is particularly useful in Singapore’s humid climate. Damp rollers can easily develop odours if left to dry naturally, developing that familiar pungent wet mop smell. The hot air cycle takes roughly half an hour and ensures the roller is ready for the next cleaning session.

Note that while the self cleaning process works well, it does use a fair amount of water. The drying stage is also quite audible while running. It is not excessively loud, but it is noticeable if the dock is placed in a quiet area of the home.

Emptying the waste tray is one of the areas where the design feels slightly less convenient. Since both solid debris and dirty water are stored in the cleaner head, the tray needs to be removed and rinsed after use. The process is straightforward but a little more fiddly. There is hence a chance of some water dripping while removing the tray, so it helps to do this near a sink.

Another slight limitation is that the Clean+Wash Hygiene is intended specifically for hard floors. It works best on smooth, flat surfaces and is not suitable for carpets or uneven flooring. While it can pick up dry debris such as crumbs and hair, it is not designed to replace a full vacuum cleaner.

We made the mistake of lifting the cleaner when it encountered an uneven transition from the hard floor to the carpet. This caused the machine to drip water and abruptly pause its operation.

Battery life is rated at up to 70 minutes depending on the cleaning mode. For most HDB flats or condominiums in Singapore this should be enough to clean the entire home in one session. The 750ml clean water tank can cover up to around 350 square metres of flooring, which is more than sufficient for most apartments.

In daily use, I found the Clean+Wash Hygiene most useful for routine floor maintenance. It handles spills, footprints and kitchen messes quickly without needing to vacuum and mop separately. For instance, it is a lifesaver when you have food spills that are sticky or difficult to clean with just a rag, but too minor to go through the trouble of getting a mop and pail.

For households that already own a vacuum cleaner, it can serve as a convenient companion for keeping hard floors clean.

At the same time, expectations should be realistic. This is not meant to be a full replacement for a vacuum cleaner. Instead, it is closer to a modern electric mop that improves hygiene and reduces the effort involved in floor washing.

Overall, the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene delivers solid cleaning performance, thoughtful hygiene features and a lightweight design that makes it easy to use around the home. While the waste tray system and water usage during self cleaning could be improved, the machine still offers a convenient way to keep hard floors clean without the traditional mop and bucket routine.

The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is priced at S$729 in Singapore.

It is available from Dyson stores, the official Dyson Singapore website, and authorised retailers including on Lazada and Shopee online.
