Waa Cow! first started as an affordable, quality wagyu beef bowl specialty food kiosk and delivery cloud kitchen, with three stores in NUS University Town, Marina One and Change Alley Mall; and two cloud kitchens at Bukit Batok HomeTeamNS and Tampines Mart respectively.

Best known for serving one of the best and most affordable flame-torched wagyu beef bowls in Singapore, they have now ventured into opening a restaurant of their own, Waa Cow! Yakiniku, located at myVillage in Serangoon Gardens.

Waa Cow! Yakiniku is a brand new grill-it-yourself dining concept featuring different beef cuts – such as karubi, oyster blade, striploin, and ox tongue – and a selection of pork, chicken and vegetable options.

The two signature sauces at Waa Cow! Yakiniku

One of the highlights of dining at Waa Cow! Yakiniku is a wide selection of seven sauces and dips to pair with the grilled meats. Choose from the crowd pleasers – Garlic Butter Teriyaki and Ponzu Negi sauces – or add on any of these five sauces – Mentaiko, Truffle, Spicy Miso with Leek, Sweet Sukiyaki with Raw Egg, and Wasabi Mayo.

You can order their signature all dips platter at $3.90 or individual dips ranging from 90 cents each for the Mentaiko sauce, Truffle sauce and Wasabi Mayo sauce; to $1.90 for the Spicy Miso & Leek Relish sauce; to $2.50 for the Sweet Sukiyaki with Raw Egg.

Sashimi sharing platters

Sharing plates such as fresh sashimi platters, and hot sides such as chawanmushi and miso soup are also available, alongside alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Designed as a casual and fun dining space, Waa Cow! Yakiniku’s bright and colourful décor, complete with a 12.5-metres wall mural, exudes energetic, vibrant and youthful vibes.

We were invited for a dinner tasting and these were the items we sampled:

Amaebi Platter (2pax), Japanese Sweet Prawns, Norwegian Salmon and Hokkaido Scallops – $21.90

There are also combo sets with a mix of meat, with prices ranging from $9.90 for a Trio Meats Set (Karubi, Pork Collar, Chicken) to $29.90 for a Trio Beef Set (Karubi, Tongue and Sirloin). You can also make your meat order into a set by topping up $5 to get a bowl of Japanese rice, a Spicy Miso and Leek Relish sauce and a drink (bottled water, Coke, Coke Zero or Ayataka green tea).

Everything is pretty fuss-free and casual, with generous servings and a fun ambient, making it perfect for group gatherings with friends and family at the restaurant. While the restaurant specialises in Yakiniku grill, their sashimi are of great quality too for the price. I am pleasantly surprised at how thick the salmon cuts were.

We will be back again for more!
