I attended the Southeast Asia press conference for the upcoming X-men: Days of Future past movie on Thursday. Three of the main cast were present – Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Peter Dinklage (Boliver Trask) and Fan Bingbing (Blink).

Hugh Jackman is reprising the role of Wolverine for the seventh time. During the press conference, Jackman mentioned that the Wolverine was his first big screen breakthrough back in 2000. He is grateful for the role and what it has done for his career. Fourteen years later, he is still happy to play Wolverine and we as the audience are still happy to see him as Wolverine. Seriously, can you think of anyone else acting as Wolverine other than Jackman?

The press got a little more than we expected during the press conference when a “conflict” happened between Jackman and a deejay from local radio station, HOT FM 91.3, Joshua Simon. Via AsiaOne:

Fight!
Fight!

When the DJ said he had a question for Wolverine, Jackman said: “He doesn’t talk a lot, I just want you to know”.

Not intending to let Joshua get off easy, Hugh Jackman went on to comment on the DJ’s unusual hairdo.

“He’s going to talk about your hair and the style of it. I mean what were you thinking bro?”

After more laughter from the audience, Joshua asked: “When you order a steak, do you use cutlery or do you just stab the ribeye?”

Slipping comfortably into character, Jackman replied, “You making fun of me? Are you? Let’s go.”

Amidst cheers from the audience, the actor headed to the door and gestured for Joshua to follow.

When Josha returned, Hugh Jackman had his arm around him and his hair had been messed up.

Don’t mess with the Wolverine!

Jackman is awesome! He knows how to work the crowd. During the brief period when Jackman and Joshua went backstage, Dinklage and Fan were left looking stunned on stage:

What just happened?
What just happened?

Another highlight during the press conference was when a reporter asked Jackman about how he prepared for a full nude scene which showed off his insanely chiseled, muscled body.

“I was his body double for that scene,” said Dinklage with a straight face.

It got the audience roaring with laughter.

Jackman then went on to explain how hard he trained to achieve that look for just one scene in one day of shooting. To emphasis his point, he shared that he told the director he had got to shoot a nude scene on that day, regardless if there is a change of script.
