Singapore diners can discover new ways to enjoy South African abalone as the Abagold Abalone Festival returns for its second edition from 10 October to 12 December 2026. The festival brings together eight restaurants and dining concepts across Singapore, each creating limited time dishes featuring Abagold’s farmed abalone.

The participating establishments will showcase the ingredient through different culinary styles, ranging from Japanese charcoal grilled preparations and Italian risotto to contemporary seafood dishes and Asian marinated abalone. The festival aims to introduce more ways to enjoy abalone beyond traditional festive meals, with each restaurant presenting its own interpretation of the prized seafood.
Abagold farms its abalone in Hermanus, at the southern tip of Africa, where the cool, nutrient rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean provide favourable growing conditions. The company draws on three decades of farming experience and holds ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certifications.
The abalone is known for its natural sweetness and clean, mineral character. It can be served raw to highlight its natural flavour, braised to absorb the richness of a broth or sauce, or grilled and steamed to bring out its texture and aroma.
Among the festival highlights is Zenryoku Izakaya, which offers two Japanese preparations. The Shioyaki Abalone, priced at S$15.80++, features thinly sliced abalone finished with a dashi butter sauce made from the abalone’s liver. The dish combines a smoky flavour with a slight crunch at the centre. Its Awabi Itame, priced at S$29.80, pairs abalone with portobello mushrooms in a ginger and scallion inspired stir fry cooked over traditional Japanese white charcoal, known as binchotan. A minimum order of one alcoholic beverage per guest applies at the restaurant.
At Supply & Demand, the Grilled Abalone Risotto costs S$47++ and places grilled Abagold abalone on a risotto prepared with sea urchin and crustacean butter. Squid ink and parsley complete the dish, adding depth to its ocean inspired flavours.
Scott’s Grill takes a pasta focused approach with its Grilled Abalone Pasta with Liver Emulsion, priced at S$58++. The abalone is steamed in its shell for three hours before being grilled to order. Its liver is poached in cream and blended into a sauce incorporating garlic, dashi, shiso and chicken jus.
Capasso presents two dishes for the festival. Its Abagold Risotto, priced at S$68++, combines tender abalone with mongo ika, or cuttlefish, cordyceps and puffed barley in a broth made using the abalone’s liver. Diners can also try Cold Angel Hair Pasta with Abalone Supplement for S$46++, featuring a miso smoked sea urchin dressing, Oscietra caviar and myoga, a type of Japanese ginger.
For a simpler preparation, Avant Seafood Market offers Miso Butter Steamed Abalone for S$15++, with the abalone steamed and finished on the grill for tenderness and a charred finish. Its Cold Baby Abalone, priced at S$25++, is briefly steamed and chilled in ice to preserve its natural sweetness.
The festival also extends to home dining through XIAN, a ready to eat Asian marinated seafood concept founded by Chef Desmond Heng of Suguru Home Dining. Its Teochew Marinated Abalone features Abagold abalone poached in a Teochew style marinade that uses baijiu from Luzhou instead of traditional yellow wine. Shoyu provides a lighter base, while herbs, spices and rock sugar add fragrance and a touch of sweetness to balance the marinade’s savoury depth. The dish will be available from late October, with pre orders through the XIAN and Suguru websites.
AMI Patisserie and Vineyard are also among the festival’s participating names. Tanglin Club will offer a members only creation, South African 6 Head Abalone with Morel Mushrooms and Beancurd.
Beyond the food offerings, the festival introduces The Gold Trail, a collectible passport activity that allows diners to build an Abagold Food City artwork by collecting stamps at participating restaurants. The six venues listed for the trail are Avant Fine Foods, Capasso, Scott’s Grill, Supply & Demand, Vineyard and Zenryoku.
Diners can collect a stamp when ordering a festival dish at a participating venue. Collecting three stamps unlocks a special edition stamp featuring Abagold’s mascot, Abby, along with a 15 per cent discount on Abagold canned abalone purchases. Collecting four stamps completes the artwork and unlocks a second Abby stamp, one complimentary can of Abagold canned abalone worth S$68 and a 15 per cent discount on canned abalone purchases.
All Gold Trail redemptions take place at Avant Seafood Market. The outlet operates from 11am to 10.30pm from Monday to Thursday, 11am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 10pm on Sunday. https://alvinology.com/2026/10/07/review-cloves-taste-of-korea-buffet-brings-korean-bbq-bossam-and-street-food-to-swissotel-the-stamford/
