A virtual reality experience that takes visitors inside the world of Ancient Egypt will arrive in Singapore this October, giving audiences the chance to explore the Great Pyramid of Giza and its surroundings through immersive technology.
Horizon of Khufu: Journey in Ancient Egypt will open at GROUNDSEESAW Singapore at Parkview Square from 2 October 2026. First launched in Paris in June 2022, the experience has welcomed more than 250,000 visitors worldwide.
The 45-minute immersive expedition uses virtual reality to recreate the Giza Plateau and the Pyramid of Khufu, also known as the Great Pyramid of Giza. The 146-metre pyramid was built between 2,590 and 2,565 BC and served as the final resting place of Pharaoh Khufu.
Visitors will be equipped with virtual reality headsets and guided through reconstructed spaces associated with the pyramid and ancient Egyptian funerary rituals. The experience begins with a virtual flight over the Giza Plateau before taking participants to the top of the Pyramid of Khufu for a 360-degree view.
The journey then continues through the pyramid’s corridors and burial chambers during an embalming ceremony, followed by a visit to the Queen’s Chamber. Participants will also take a virtual boat trip along the Nile and attend the funeral of Khufu.
The experience was developed with the involvement of Peter Der Manuelian, a professor of Egyptology at Harvard University who specialises in mortuary architecture and the Giza necropolis. His team at the Giza Project at Harvard University contributed to the research and data used in the reconstruction.
The creators say the experience is based on verified architectural, scientific and historical information, while incorporating findings from recent research on the Khufu pyramid.
Horizon of Khufu is produced by Emissive under its Excurio brand. The technology allows groups of visitors to move freely within large spaces while experiencing the virtual environment together. Participants can also see other members of their group within the experience, helping create a shared rather than isolated VR experience.
The Excurio system is designed for spaces ranging from 300 to 1,000 square metres and combines physical movement with virtual environments and historical reconstructions.
At GROUNDSEESAW Singapore, Horizon of Khufu: Journey in Ancient Egypt will be located on Level 3 of Parkview Square at 600 North Bridge Road, Singapore 188778.
Presale tickets will be available from 10 September to 1 October 2026. A 2+1 bundle will cost S$70, while a ticket bundled with special merchandise will cost S$35.
From 2 October, regular admission will be priced at S$35 for adults and S$29 for children.
