[Review] Westin Singapore’s Never-Ending Staycation: How to Make a Weekend Feel Longer

We recently spent 3D2N at The Westin Singapore as part of its Never-Ending Staycation Goes Local experience, checking in early on Friday and leaving on Sunday morning. Located at Asia Square Tower 2 along Marina View, the hotel sits in the heart of the CBD, but its high-floor facilities and wellness-focused approach make it surprisingly easy to switch off from the usual pace of city life.

The package is designed around the idea that a staycation in Singapore does not need to mean simply checking into a room and spending the weekend indoors. Instead, guests are encouraged to explore the city, eat well, exercise, relax and rediscover familiar parts of Singapore.

The current package includes a minimum two-night stay, daily buffet breakfast for two, one dinner for two, early check-in from 10am and late check-out until 3pm, subject to availability. Up to two children under 12 can also dine free with a paying adult. The promotional code is HOL, with the offer available for eligible stays through 23 December 2026.

One of the biggest advantages of the package is that the extra time actually makes a difference. Being able to arrive earlier and leave later means the stay feels less rushed, especially when there are several facilities and activities to fit into a weekend. Our early check-in on Friday gave us enough time to settle into the room before heading out to explore.

The room itself was one of the highlights.

The bed was large and comfortable, with a balance of softness and support that made it particularly easy to settle down after a full day. Westin’s Heavenly Bed concept is well known, and our experience lived up to the reputation.

The bathtub was another welcome feature, providing a simple way to unwind without having to leave the room.

The wellness facilities at The Westin Singapore were excellent too. The outdoor infinity pool on Level 35 offers expansive views towards Marina Bay and the surrounding cityscape. We spent time swimming there before heading to the spa facilities, where hotel guests can use the sauna and bathing facilities on a complimentary basis.

The combination of the pool, views and spa makes it easy to spend a substantial part of the afternoon without needing another activity.

The gym is also well equipped for those who do not want to completely abandon your exercise routine while on holiday.

The hotel promotes its WestinWORKOUT fitness facilities as part of its broader wellness programme, while guests can also take part in selected health and wellness sessions by PURE Fitness or PURE Yoga. During our stay, we attended a PURE yoga session and found it a good way to slow down and recharge. Other programmes can include reformer Pilates and guided runs, although availability and schedules should be checked before arrival.

During our stay period, a guided run was available on Sunday morning and we were able to sign up for it. We were accompanied by a friendly running guide who helped paced us and took us through a scenic route of about 5km around the Marina Bay area. At the end of the run, refreshment and water was provided.

There were also a few small touches that added to the stay. We received complimentary facial masks, bath salts and light bites, which fitted neatly into the hotel’s wellness theme. None of these are particularly extravagant on their own, but together they made the experience feel more considered.

Food was another strong point. Breakfast on both mornings was a highlight, with a broad mix of local favourites and international dishes.

There was enough variety to keep things interesting across two mornings, rather than simply repeating the same selection.

We also had dinner at Cook & Brew on the second night and went for the buffet.

For us, the seafood selection was the main attraction, with enough on offer to make the buffet worthwhile for seafood lovers.

Another enjoyable part of the stay was Lim Teh by the Bay at the Lobby Lounge.

Rather than presenting afternoon tea in a conventional Western format, the experience puts a local spin on the familiar hotel tea ritual by reimagining local hawker favourites into tea time snacks.

The concept gives guests an opportunity to sample Singapore-inspired flavours in a more polished setting. It is a clever fit for a package that is explicitly about rediscovering the local side of Singapore.

Addtionally, the MONOPOLY: HIDDEN Singapore experience provided a different kind of activity.

Guests receive a specially designed MRT card and can take part in a game that encourages them to explore Singapore beyond the hotel.

We headed to Suntec City, completed the available quest and received complimentary pineapple tarts. The activity was easy to follow and did not require a major time commitment, which makes it suitable for families or couples who want something casual to do between meals and hotel facilities.

Our only wish was that there had been more stops to explore, as the concept has the potential to become a more substantial citywide treasure hunt.

The location also works well for a staycation. The Westin Singapore is within walking distance of Marina Bay attractions and Lau Pa Sat, while the nearby MRT network makes it straightforward to venture further into the city. Downtown and Shenton Way MRT stations are both withing a short walking distance, making it an extremely convienent base to explore the heart of Singapore.

What we liked most about The Westin Singapore was that the experience did not depend on one single standout attraction. The room was comfortable, breakfast was consistently good, the seafood dinner delivered, the infinity pool offered an appealing escape from the CBD, and the spa and fitness options gave the weekend a wellness component. Add in the local experiences and late check-out, and there was enough to keep us occupied without making the stay feel overly programmed.

It combines the practical benefits of a hotel package with enough food, fitness, relaxation and local exploration to make two nights feel substantially longer.

The real luxury here is not simply the room or the view. It is having enough time to slow down, eat well, sleep comfortably and decide what you want to do next. For a weekend reset without leaving Singapore, that is a fairly good proposition.
