Leica Unveils SL3-P and Two New Lenses, Expanding Its Most Advanced Full Frame Imaging System Yet

Leica has strengthened its renowned SL-System with the launch of the new Leica SL3-P, its most advanced full frame camera to date, alongside two new premium lenses, the Summilux-SL 50 f/1.4 ASPH. and the APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100 f/2.8. Designed for professional photographers, filmmakers and ambitious creators, the latest additions further expand the capabilities of Leica’s full frame ecosystem while maintaining the intuitive user experience that has defined the SL-System since its debut in 2015.

Built around a new 44-megapixel BSI full frame sensor, the Leica SL3-P delivers a balance of high resolution and exceptional image quality. With a dynamic range of up to 14 stops, the camera captures fine tonal gradations and detail across a wide range of lighting conditions. Its Multishot mode produces images of up to 176 megapixels, while an ISO range of 50 to 200,000 provides flexibility for shooting in challenging environments.

The SL3-P also introduces a new hybrid autofocus system that combines phase detection, depth mapping and contrast detection technologies. This enables faster and more precise focusing, supported by 819 autofocus points, improved subject tracking and intelligent recognition capabilities. Continuous shooting speeds of up to 40 frames per second with full autofocus support allow photographers to confidently capture fast moving subjects.

For video creators, the SL3-P supports recording at resolutions up to 8K, including 8.1K Open Gate recording in a 3:2 format using the full sensor area. Additional recording options include 8K at 30p, HDMI RAW 8K Open Gate, 5.9K at up to 60 frames per second and 4K slow motion footage at up to 120 frames per second. Support for Apple ProRes recording at up to 5.8K ensures high quality footage, while the addition of Leica Pure and Leica Cine LUTs for the L-Log colour space provides greater flexibility during post production.

Manufactured in Germany, the SL3-P adopts a minimalist design with black controls and no red Leica logo. Its robust full metal construction is complemented by IP54 certification for protection against dust and water splashes. Built around the L-Mount standard, the camera offers compatibility with a broad range of lenses from Leica and its L-Mount Alliance partners.

The camera also brings a refined user experience with customisable controls, a streamlined interface and dedicated photo and video operating modes distinguished by red and yellow colour coding. The interface automatically adapts when the camera is used vertically or horizontally, ensuring clear visibility of information on its high-resolution tilting display. Ongoing firmware updates are delivered through the Leica FOTOS App, helping extend the camera’s functionality over time.

Connectivity features have also been enhanced to support professional workflows. Through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB-C connections, users can transfer files quickly, remotely control the camera and apply Leica Looks directly from capture. Native tethering support for Lightroom Classic and Capture One enables seamless studio workflows, while Camera-to-Cloud integration via Adobe Frame.io allows immediate transfer of photos and videos for editing. The SL3-P also incorporates Content Credentials technology developed with the Content Authenticity Initiative, allowing creators to attach tamper resistant metadata to their work.

Alongside the new camera, Leica has introduced the Summilux-SL 50 f/1.4 ASPH., described as the world’s most compact autofocus lens with a 50mm focal length and f/1.4 aperture. Despite its compact size, the lens delivers exceptional image quality, strong low light performance and pleasing background separation. Measuring just 75.5mm in length and weighing 584g, it incorporates eleven aperture blades, two aspherical lens elements and premium glass construction. Its fast and quiet autofocus system, close focusing distance of 50cm and weather resistant full metal body make it a versatile everyday lens for photographers and filmmakers alike.

Leica has also unveiled the APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100 f/2.8, a modern tribute to the celebrated APO-Macro-Elmarit-R 100 f/2.8 introduced in 1987. Designed for both macro and portrait photography, the lens offers a close focusing distance of 30cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1. Apochromatic correction ensures exceptional sharpness and colour accuracy throughout the frame, while its nine-blade aperture delivers smooth and natural background rendering. The lens features a durable metal body, AquaDura coating for additional protection and compatibility with E67 filters.

The Leica SL3-P is available globally from 25 June 2026 through Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store and authorised dealers at a recommended retail price of S$8,800 including GST.

To celebrate the launch, Leica is offering three kit options. The SL3-P 28–70 Vario Kit, which includes the Vario-Elmarit-SL 28–70 f/2.8 ASPH., is priced at S$10,350. The SL3-P 24–70 Vario Kit with the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–70 f/2.8 ASPH. is available for S$11,090.
