Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is turning up the social energy at its Joo Chiat outlet with a new one-night-only concept, Mahjong Social Club, happening on 19 June 2026 from 6pm onwards.
In collaboration with local collective Mahjong Lah, the event brings together food, drinks and mahjong in a casual, guided setting designed for both beginners and experienced players. Held at 185 Joo Chiat Road, the session is priced at $40++ per person, which includes a main dish, one drink and a round of gameplay. Seats are limited.
The experience is positioned as part dinner, part game night, tapping into the idea of shared table culture that has long been part of Asian social life. Guests can drop in from 6pm and ease into games at their own pace, with no fixed start time and no gambling involved.
CMCR is also serving up a menu inspired by regional Asian comfort dishes with a modern café twist. Highlights include the Crispy Duck Curry, featuring twice-cooked duck leg paired with rich Singapore-style curry and a toasted croissant, and the Seafood Dry Laksa Spaghetti, where spicy laksa paste coats pasta topped with prawns, fish cake and crispy otah. The Bulgogi Beef Bowl rounds out the main highlights with bulgogi ribeye, pineapple kimchi and scrambled egg over brown rice.
Other dishes available include Butter Chicken Rice, Hokkaido Pork Katsu and Seafood Angel Hair Tom Yum, offering a mix of familiar flavours reworked for an all-day dining setting.
The drinks menu follows a similarly playful direction, featuring creations like the Kaya Toast Latte with pandan, coconut, espresso and kaya foam, the Kinako Matcha Latte with roasted soybean notes and rice pearls, and the Miso Lucky, a sweet-savoury blend of white chocolate, white miso and mochi.
Tickets are non-refundable and non-reschedulable, with limited availability due to seating capacity.
