Gaming headsets often suffer from a common problem where they look so aggressively designed for gamers that wearing them outside feels awkward. If you try using a traditional gaming headset at the gym or on the MRT, you will likely look out of place with a bulky microphone flopping around your face and glowing lights all over. This often forces consumers to buy multiple audio devices such as a pair of headphones for commutes, earbuds for the gym and a dedicated gaming headset for the PC. Purchasing multiple devices is hardly budget friendly, which makes the prospect of an all in one solution highly appealing. The new Logitech G325 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset aims to solve this dilemma by packing a little bit of everything into a comfortable and lightweight shell.
At a suggested retail price of S$149 in Singapore, it serves as a versatile, budget companion for gamers who move seamlessly between different platforms and daily activities.
Comfort and everyday utility are some of the strongest selling points of this new release. The headset features an understated design available in variations like black with a touch of purple, white with a hint of mint, and lilac.
Weighing just 212 grams, it is significantly lighter than many competitors, offering an effortless fit thanks to a close fit headband and dual layer memory foam ear cups covered in breathable knit fabric. This makes it comfortable enough to wear during a long gaming marathon or while taking a walk.
It does feel slightly entry level in terms of its plastic construction, and the lack of rotating or folding ear cups means it takes up a fair amount of space in a bag. However, Logitech has prioritised sustainability by using up to 46% post consumer recycled plastics and providing zero plastic packaging. Users can even enable an 80% charging cap via the software to extend the overall battery lifespan.
When it comes to performance, the G325 delivers solid value. It uses 32 mm audio drivers that provide 24 bit audio, capturing subtle environmental cues like footsteps or rain perfectly during gameplay. The wireless connectivity is outstanding, offering up to 30 meters of range via the proprietary LIGHTSPEED USB receiver alongside standard Bluetooth 5.3 support. This allows users to easily switch from an intense PS4, PS5, or PC gaming session to taking a phone call on their mobile device.
Battery life is robust, rated for over 24 hours of continuous use on a single charge.
Communication is handled through an omnidirectional dual beamforming microphone integrated directly into the ear cup. This discreet design eliminates the need for a standard boom arm, making the headset look much more like a standard pair of lifestyle headphones.
The microphone features AI powered noise reduction that effectively minimises background sounds like keyboard clicks and fan hums for whoever is on the other end of the call. However, it is important to note that the headset itself lacks active noise cancellation, meaning you will still hear external noises like children playing or traffic, although the over ear design does provide some passive isolation.
Ultimately, the Logitech G325 LIGHTSPEED positions itself as a jack of all trades but a master of none.
It is comfortable but not luxurious, and it offers great gaming latency with decent, though not amazing, audio quality. If you have the budget and desire to buy specialised headsets for every individual activity, those will likely perform better in their specific niches. However, if you are a beginner gamer or a budget conscious consumer looking for a single reliable headset for work, the gym, commuting, and console gaming, the G325 is a fantastic do it all piece of technology. It seamlessly integrates gaming performance with everyday aesthetics, proving that affordable gear does not always have to mean making massive compromises.
