Beyond Bread: Gardenia Launches Its First Chocolate Malt Drink in Singapore

Singapore home grown bakery Gardenia has expanded beyond bread with the launch of its first ever beverage, the Gardenia Chocolate Malt Drink. Introduced late last year in 2025, the new product marks a milestone for the brand, which began as a small bakery at Bukit Timah Plaza in 1978 and has since become a household name across Singapore.

The Gardenia Chocolate Malt Drink is positioned as a balance of taste and nutrition.

It is made with premium malt extract and real cocoa, offering a smooth and creamy texture while remaining light and easy to drink.

The formulation is said to be low in sugar and low in fat, with 25 percent less sugar than regular malted drinks. It is also enriched with prebiotic, protein, calcium, and essential vitamins and minerals to support daily nourishment. The drink is certified with the Healthier Choice Symbol and Nutri Grade B, and is free from artificial colourings and preservatives.

Developed to complement Gardenia’s range of breads and buns, the beverage reflects changing consumer preferences towards healthier and more convenient meal options. It is intended to pair easily with breakfast or other meals throughout the day, reinforcing the brand’s focus on providing wholesome food for Singaporeans.

Cynthia Samboo, Managing Director of Gardenia Singapore, shared that the launch represents an important step for the company as it brings the familiar warmth and goodness of the brand into a new category with a nutritious chocolate malt drink.

The drink can be enjoyed hot or cold and is designed for different lifestyles and age groups. Each serving contains 5g of protein and 176.8mg of calcium, making it suitable as a post workout option for active individuals, a breakfast beverage, or an after school drink for children.

Pricing and Availability

The Gardenia Chocolate Malt Drink is priced affordably at S$7 for a pack of 13 sachets of 33g each. It is available at selected supermarkets and online platforms across Singapore.
