Choo-Choo Into the Festive Season at Gardens by the Bay’s Whimsical Christmas Train Show

Gardens by the Bay is bringing back its well-loved Christmas Train Show, and this year’s edition feels bigger, brighter and even more charming. This year’s show blends the classic warmth of an American holiday train tradition with touches of Singapore’s own unique culture, creating a playful mix that appeals to visitors of all ages.

Walking in, visitors will be greeted by the giant LEGO Christmas Tree. Standing at 4.5 metres tall and built from more than 100,000 bricks, it sets the tone for the festive journey ahead.

It took close to 500 hours to complete, and the little custom LEGO ornaments inspired by iconic Singapore symbols like the Merlion, the Supertrees and the Vanda Miss Joaquim make it a distinctly local welcome.

Moving into the heart of the Flower Dome, you’ll find yourself drawn to the intricate railway world that stretches across the centre of the display. Spot over 20 model trains weave their way through 145 metres of winding tracks, chugging past bridges, dipping into tunnels and gliding above your head on elevated paths!

The celebration of SG60 shines brightest in the local section of the exhibition. The specially designed G-scale SMRT train, created in collaboration with SMRT Trains, winds past handcrafted Singapore landmarks such as the Dragon Playground, heritage shophouses, the Supertrees, and even the Merlion.

These familiar touches bring a sense of nostalgia and warmth, making it a proud and heartwarming tribute to Singapore.

For the first time, visitors can also journey to Denmark with the stunning LEGO Nyhavn Canal District. In commemoration of 60 years of bilateral ties between Singapore and Denmark, Gardens by the Bay has collaborated with the Royal Danish Embassy to bring the warmth and storytelling of a Danish Christmas to Flower Dome. This 6.5-metre-wide recreation of the historic Copenhagen waterfront features colourful townhouses and a miniature Danish train with LEGO-built Christmas scenes, a playful nod to The LEGO Group’s Danish roots.

Families can also capture festive moments at the LEGO Santa Corner, complete with a cosy fireplace, a 3D Christmas Tree Wall and other intricate LEGO creations.

Beyond that, little ones can wander through a walk-in black-and-red locomotive inspired by classic Danish steam trains, and watch a life-sized rotating carousel spin gently, with beloved Hans Christian Andersen tales beautifully brought to life.

The fun doesn’t stop there, with special LEGO activities at the South American Garden every Friday to Sunday during the exhibition, and exclusive LEGO merchandise at the LEGO Retail Pop-up in the Flower Dome foyer.

The little ones will be thrilled to see Thomas the Train chugging along through Santa’s Village. As it winds its way past charming festive buildings, kids can spot iconic Santa-themed landmarks like the North Pole Post Office, the Northern Lights workshop, and other whimsical holiday scenes!

Do not miss the other festive highlights at the show! The intricate railway journey features trains chugging past iconic American landmarks, capturing the charm of a classic holiday train display. Look out for the miniature Statue of Liberty, the towering Grand Central Terminal, and the stunning Golden Gate Bridge, which are all crafted in exquisite detail and perfect scale.

Beyond the trains, the Flower Dome has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland. Nearly 7,000 plants fill the space with festive scents and colours, from bright poinsettias to classic holly and mistletoe. Towering Christmas trees add to the magic, and as dusk falls, four towering 7.5-metre luminaries light up, casting a warm, enchanting glow over the entire display.
