Therme Group to Build Asia’s First Futuristic Wellbeing Destination at Marina South, Singapore

Therme Group, the global pioneer behind some of Europe’s most visited wellness destinations, has been awarded the tender by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to develop a landmark S$1 billion wellbeing attraction at Marina South Coastal.

Slated to open by 2030, the transformative project will be Therme’s first destination in Asia and Singapore’s first large-scale, purpose-built wellness attraction. Designed as a modern oasis merging water, nature, architecture, culture, and technology, the development will elevate Singapore’s position as a global wellness capital under STB’s Tourism 2040 vision.

A New Era of Wellness for Singapore

Set on a 4-hectare waterfront site next to Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, Therme Singapore is expected to draw 2 million visitors annually, with close to half being international travellers. A new public park of almost equal size will also be developed beside the attraction, connecting Marina Barrage to the wellness destination and enhancing the Marina Bay precinct with more green and blue spaces.

Far more than a traditional spa or resort, Therme Singapore will be a social wellbeing destination, built around Therme’s core pillars:

  • Water & Nature
  • Sustainability & Design
  • Arts & Culture

Guests can look forward to thermal pools, lush botanical zones, immersive art installations, saunas, steam experiences, and even family-friendly water attractions, all under one roof.

The experience is designed for all ages: from children and families seeking playful aquatic fun, to adults seeking deep rest and rejuvenation, to seniors looking for restorative wellness therapies.

The attraction will be constructed as a world-leading sustainable facility featuring:

  • High-efficiency water recycling systems
  • Sustainable energy solutions
  • Biophilic architecture that blends nature into modern design

The result: a restorative wellness environment that benefits both people and the planet.

Therme Group will work with DP Architects and its own in-house studio Therme ARC to deliver a design that complements the coastal landscape and Marina Bay’s iconic skyline.

Powering Singapore’s Wellness Tourism Growth

The project comes at a time when wellness tourism is booming globally, projected to grow 10.2% annually and reach US$1.35 trillion by 2028. Wellness travellers are also among the highest spenders, making this addition a major boost to Singapore’s tourism ambitions of achieving S$47–50 billion in tourism receipts by 2040.

Therme Group’s proven success includes operating Europe’s most visited wellness destinations in Bucharest, Romania and Erding, Germany, known for fusing thermal bathing with cultural programming, art, and community experiences.

A Game-Changer for Marina Bay

Neighbours of the upcoming destination include:

  • Gardens by the Bay
  • Marina Barrage
  • Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore
  • Founders’ Memorial (upcoming)

Together, the precinct will form a vibrant leisure, lifestyle, cultural, and wellness belt for locals and tourists alike.
