Scotty, the largest Tyrannosaurus rex specimen ever discovered
Science Centre Singapore, in collaboration with Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum at National University of Singapore, proudly presents DINOSAURS | EXTINCTIONS | US, an extraordinary exhibition spanning 3,000 square metres that brings visitors face to face with giants of the past and urgent stories of the present.
This landmark showcase combines two internationally renowned exhibitions, Dinosaurs of Patagonia by Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio and Six Extinctions by Gondwana Studios, featuring over 90 artefacts, including 33 rare fossils and 60 full-scale models. Through awe-inspiring displays, visitors will trace 400 million years of Earth’s evolutionary story and the survival of life through mass extinctions.
Patagotitan mayorum: Towering 40 metres long and weighing around 57 tonnes, this full-scale cast is a breathtaking replica of one of the largest dinosaurs ever discovered. Unearthed in Argentina in 2014, it’s the most complete skeleton of its kind.
“Scotty” the Tyrannosaurus rex: Measuring 13 metres in length, this formidable apex predator showcases the power and drama of the dinosaur age. Guests can get an extraordinary glimpse of this prehistoric giant and the cataclysmic extinctions that shaped Earth’s history.
The exhibition also brings the conversation closer to home. A special segment curated by the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum highlights Singapore’s biodiversity losses and conservation efforts.
One striking example is the great slaty woodpecker (Mulleripicus pulverulentus), once a native breeder in Singapore but now locally extinct due to habitat loss. Visitors will get a rare chance to see this majestic bird up close, underscoring the real-world impact of extinction in our time.
Visitors can step into the role of a paleontologist with a range of hands-on experiences:
