This November, Toy Factory Productions is set to debut its first-ever feel-good Mandarin family comedy, Radin Mas, Who?, at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC). Running from 14 to 23 November 2025, the production reimagines the legend of Radin Mas in a playful, contemporary retelling brimming with laughter, warmth, and kampung spirit.
Set in a Telok Blangah community centre, the story follows a group of migrant workers and local residents attempting to stage a cultural play. As lines are forgotten, props vanish, and chaos unfolds, unexpected friendships blossom.
“Community centres are rarely the focus of plays, yet they hold countless untold stories. With Radin Mas, Who?, I wanted to capture both the humour of everyday life and the deeper questions of home, belonging, and courage,” says Aricia Ng, Director of Radin Mas, Who?: an actor, drama educator, and theatre-maker with a BA (Hons) in Acting from LASALLE College of the Arts. Driven by a passion for theatre as a medium of self-expression and community engagement, she develops works that inspire confidence and strengthen human connections.
“Radin Mas, Who? reflects our commitment to inclusivity and empathy, reimagining a familiar legend with humour and heart to bring communities together,” shares Goh Boon Teck, Chief Artistic Director of Toy Factory Productions.
Presented in collaboration with SCCC, the production underscores both organisations’ dedication to making the arts accessible and resonant with Singapore’s diverse audiences. Performed in Mandarin with English and Chinese surtitles, the show ensures an inclusive experience across generations and language backgrounds.
As part of Singapore’s new SG Culture Pass initiative, audiences can redeem their $100 credits to enjoy the performance.
The production is helmed by a stellar team, including award-winning Set Designer Petrina Dawn Tan, Lighting Designer Tai Zi Feng, Sound Designer Mark Benedict Cheong, and Costume Stylist Tan Jia Hui. The cast features Sim Kee Joo, Sharon Mah, Chermaine Kumar, Chua Teck Yeo (Malaysia), and Lim Shien Hian, alongside four young performers from Martial House, whose dynamic wushu artistry adds energy and intergenerational spirit to the show.
Playwright Titus Hutch Jr. Yim, known for exploring identity and heritage in works like The Puppet King and plotSEA, reinvigorates the Radin Mas legend for modern audiences with humour and heart.
