i Light Singapore 2025 Illuminates the City with Art, Sustainability and Shared Dreams

As Singapore celebrates its 60th birthday, i Light Singapore (iLSG) returns from 29 May to 21 June 2025, transforming the cityscape into a vibrant playground of light, creativity, and community connection. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and presented by UOB, this year’s edition extends beyond Marina Bay to new precincts along the Singapore River and Raffles Place, with South Beach returning as a satellite site.

A Red-Hued Celebration of Togetherness

Anchored on the theme “To Gather” and inspired by the colour red—a nod to the SG60 celebrations and its significance in the light spectrum—this year’s festival features 17 new light art installations by 20 artists. Each work invites visitors to reflect on the power of unity and sustainability while sparking joyful encounters across generations.

Interactive Highlights at Marina Bay

The Marina Bay area will showcase installations that turn spectators into collaborators.

  • Take a walk through the meadow with me by Megan Tan and Tan Shao Xuan invites visitors into a luminous field of 300 repurposed acrylic flowers that respond to movement with light and sound. Guests can also join a DIY workshop to create charms from upcycled offcuts.
  • Piano Walk by Amigo & Amigo transforms Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza into a giant playable piano where each step produces music, including a composed piece that plays every 10 minutes.
  • Elementary at Clifford Square brings a digital seascape to life, reacting to visitors’ motions with a hypnotic ocean rhythm.
  • Urban Oracle near the Red Dot Design Museum uses AI to project Singapore-inspired phrases through suspended letters that reflect on water—activated by the press of a button.

  • Saulux, a wind-activated, sensory lightscape by SPLACES.STUDIO (Malta), where glowing willows sway with breeze-generated sound.
  • This is Not a Screen, which reimagines recycled polarised screens into spinning optical illusions that challenge perceptions of digital reality.
