Studio Ghibli’s Original Singers Set to Enchant Singapore with One-Night Symphony Concert

Fans of Studio Ghibli, mark your calendars—an enchanting night of music and nostalgia awaits. The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI – Original Singers Symphony is making its highly anticipated Singapore debut at The Star Theatre on 11 June 2025 (Wednesday).

For one night only, audiences will be treated to live performances by the original vocalists behind some of Ghibli’s most iconic soundtracks, accompanied by the lush harmonies of the Tokyo Asia Orchestra. This unforgettable symphonic experience brings together the voices that first brought Ghibli’s timeless melodies to life:

  • Yoshikazu Mera – The countertenor whose haunting vocals graced Princess Mononoke.
  • Sumi Shimamoto – Voice actress and singer known for her roles in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, and The Castle of Cagliostro.
  • Azumi Inoue – Beloved for her performances in Laputa: Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro.
  • Yuyu – Rising talent and daughter of Azumi Inoue, known for her performances on NHK’s Minna no Uta.

Expect to be swept away by classics such as Nausicaä, Totoro, Laputa, and Princess Mononoke, performed by the original singers whose voices shaped the magic of Ghibli’s musical legacy.

Supporting this vocal ensemble is the Tokyo Asia Orchestra, a 17-member group led by acclaimed violinist Takeshi Hashima. Their symphonic arrangements promise to breathe new emotional depth into these beloved scores, transforming cinematic memories into a powerful live concert experience.

From ethereal ballads to stirring anthems, this unique event is a must for any fan of anime, film music, or Studio Ghibli’s spellbinding world.
