Winners of the Singapore Interior Design Award (SIDA) 2024

The Singapore Interior Design Award (SIDA) 2024 celebrated outstanding achievements in spatial and interior design at a grand gala held on 8 November at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Attended by over 500 professionals from the design, architecture, and built environment sectors, the event was graced by Guest-of-Honour Ms. Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development. Organized by the Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS), SIDA is an annual award that spotlights exceptional work and celebrates top talent in the design industry globally.

In its 8th year, SIDA 2024 saw nearly 700 entries from 12 countries, with Singapore leading in submissions, followed by Malaysia and China. This year, new entries from Cambodia and the United Kingdom highlighted the growing international reach of the award. The jury, comprising renowned experts in design, architecture, and hospitality, selected 107 awardees from 8 nations, showcasing a diverse array of design talent and vision.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Simon Ong, Kingsmen Creatives (Singapore)

Citation: Ong’s career has redefined experiential design, inspiring designers in Singapore and worldwide with his pioneering spirit and enduring contributions.

Designer of the Year: Averse Yau, A Blue Cube Design (Singapore)

Citation: Yau’s expertise shines through his unique works, blending material and color with precision and artistic flair.

Young Designer of the Year: Dickson Phoon, Twothree Design (Singapore)

Citation: Phoon’s approach to modern luxury is refined and stylish, bringing together functionality and sophistication in a timeless style.

Best Design Firm of the Year: Super Assembly (Singapore)

Citation: Super Assembly’s consistent, innovative approach positions it as a promising leader among young architectural practices.

Design Educator of the Year: Ho Sock Yee, Temasek Polytechnic (Singapore)

Citation: Ho’s passion for teaching and involvement in the design community enriches the future of interior design education.

Design of the Year: EDL Regional Headquarters by Gwen Tan, The Afternaut Group (Singapore)

Citation: This project masterfully integrates architecture and interiors with a nuanced play of light and space, perfectly reflecting the brand’s contemporary image.

As the design world evolves, SIDA provides a vital platform to showcase creativity, innovation, and expertise. This year, the competition expanded to introduce the SIDA Youth Excellence Award, an annual SGD 3,000 bursary for three promising students, underscoring the Society’s commitment to fostering new talent.

The 2024 SIDA event also marked SIDS’s 30th anniversary. During the gala, SIDS President Tung shared the Society’s achievements over three decades, along with an industry awareness campaign for the Singapore Interior Designers Accreditation Scheme (SIDAS), aimed at promoting the highest standards of design, ethics, and safety in Singapore’s interior design sector.
