Local Celebrities and Agencies Paint Sharity Figurines to Uplift Communities in Need

Over 30 local icons, including stars like Loh Kean Yew, Fandi Ahmad, Iman Fandi, Dick Lee, and Irene Ang, have joined forces with social service agencies to paint unique Sharity figurines. These personalized creations aim to raise funds and awareness for community support programs. A special preview of these figurines is on display at the Sharity Reimagined exhibition during the Christmas on A Great Street Community Chest Light-Up Ceremony on Orchard Road.

In partnership with the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA), the event was inaugurated by Guest of Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, alongside Minister for Social and Family Development, Masagos Zulkifli. This marks the 41st edition of the beloved Christmas Light-Up, featuring a “firefly garden” theme that brings a magical glow to the Orchard Road holiday season.

Sharity Reimagined: Art with a Purpose

From athletes and artists to business leaders, each contributor painted their Sharity figurine to support a cause close to their heart, rallying donations for the Community Chest’s vital social programs. Football legend Fandi Ahmad, known for his artistry on the field, dedicated his figurine to support adults with disabilities—a cause he empathizes with deeply, given his own experience with multiple surgeries and physical challenges.

Thanks to the Community Chest’s funding, Special Education (SPED) schools supported by the organization saw substantial progress in 2023, helping over 7,700 students with special needs and launching eight new SPED schools to meet growing demand.
