This year’s edition, a milestone 40th anniversary, celebrates France’s rich storytelling heritage, transporting audiences through genres, decades, and unforgettable narratives.
A Cinematic Journey from Classics to Contemporary Hits
Organized by the Embassy of France and co-presented by Alliance Française de Singapour, Shaw Organisation, and The Projector, the festival’s diverse lineup of 36 films spans everything from blockbuster hits and family comedies to heart-pounding dramas and romantic tales. This year’s centerpiece is the highly acclaimed The Count of Monte Cristo, starring Pierre Niney and Anaïs Demoustier. With a perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating and over nine million tickets sold in France, this visually stunning adaptation brings Alexandre Dumas’ timeless story of vengeance to life.
Other must-see films include Prodigies, starring Emily in Paris star Camille Razat, Saint-Exupéry, a look into the life of The Little Prince author, and Beating Hearts, a Cannes-selected love story reminiscent of West Side Story. Festival-goers will also enjoy premieres of unique films like the dark comedy How to Make a Killing and sci-fi adventure Robot T-0, showcasing the vibrant and inventive spirit of modern French cinema.
For those craving classic French cinema, The Projector will screen timeless gems like Purple Noon, featuring the late icon Alain Delon, and the beloved Amélie, a heartwarming tale set in Paris that remains an emblem of French film.
Expanding French Cinema’s Reach in Singapore
This year, the festival aims to make French films accessible to everyone. With screenings at 15 community venues, including community clubs and integrated hubs, families can enjoy animated tales like Epic Tails (Argonuts), Chicken for Linda!, and Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia. The People’s Association’s involvement highlights the festival’s commitment to inspiring new audiences, particularly young film enthusiasts, with French storytelling magic.
For an engaging experience, three French actors and directors—Franck Dubosc, Camille Razat, and Mélanie Robert—will attend select screenings to interact with audiences, sharing insights into their craft and perspectives on the art of French filmmaking.
A Cross-Cultural Closing Celebration
The festival concludes with a special joint screening of Singaporean director Eric Khoo’s Spirit World, co-produced with France and starring the legendary Catherine Deneuve. Co-presented by vOilah! and the Singapore International Film Festival, this closing film celebrates the creative bond between Singapore and France, merging cultural stories and artistic visions for audiences in both countries.
