Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert Features Exciting Firsts for 2024

The highly anticipated sixth edition of the Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert (NDC) is set to bring several firsts to the stage on Sunday, August 4, 2024. The event, themed “Our Home, Our Heart, Our Singapore,” will take place at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay and promises an unforgettable celebration with a star-studded lineup, family-friendly activities, and a stunning fireworks display. Best of all, admission is free.

Highlights and Firsts

One of the major highlights will be the first official live performance of the NDP 2024 theme song “Not Alone” by Benjamin Kheng. This year’s concert will also feature President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Ms. Jane Ittogi as Guests of Honour for the first time. They will introduce themselves in sign language before leading the audience in reciting the pledge, accompanied by members of the Singapore Association for the Deaf.

Additionally, the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective will make their debut at the concert, performing alongside local artists. The concert, hosted by Mediacorp 987’s Avery Yeo and Mediacorp YES 933’s Hazelle Teo, will also see its first standalone booth by the POP Design Center (PDC), featuring exclusive launches and Singapore-exclusive toys.

Star Performers

Renowned songstress Olivia Ong will headline the concert, enchanting audiences with her performance of “如燕 (Like a Swallow)” from the hit drama “The Little Nyonya” and debuting her latest tune “光影 (Azure)”. Homegrown musicians Shabir and Yung Raja will also take the stage with exclusive performances of their latest tracks “The Name Is” and “High Fashion,” respectively.

Concertgoers can look forward to past NDP theme songs performed by winners of Singapore Idol, Taufik Batisah and Sezairi, and popular hits by music duo Jack & Rai, supported by an inclusive live band from Faith Music Centre. Vocalist Amni Musfirah will deliver a heartfelt rendition of “Bunga Sayang,” accompanied by a dance sequence from the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective.

Seasoned musicians Liu Ling Ling, Rahimah Rahim, and John Klass will bring a medley of beloved Singapore folk songs to life, backed by the lively rhythms of The Vasantham Boyz. Mediacorp artistes Bonnie Loo, Desmond Ng, Jeremy Chan, and JJ Neo will join talents from Mediacorp’s reality singing competitions for a fun performance of BTS’ catchy track “Butter.”

Pre-Concert Festivities

Starting at 4:30 PM, pre-concert festivities will include live song covers, go-kart races, and nostalgic carnival games. Attendees can also purchase #SGYesWeCan tote bags on-site, with proceeds supporting Gardens by the Bay’s community outreach initiative, Gift of Gardens.

Community Support

The event is organized with the support of community partners Dads for Life, NTUC, People’s Association, and SAFRA, ensuring a range of activities for Singaporeans from all walks of life to enjoy.

The Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert 2024 will commence at 4:30 PM on Sunday, August 4, at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay. For those unable to attend in person, the concert will air on meWATCH, Channel 5, and Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube on Sunday, August 17, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
