Cathay Cargo Terminal Embraces Sustainability with Recycled Plastic Cover Sheets

In a groundbreaking move towards environmental responsibility, Cathay Cargo Terminal has announced its adoption of 50% recycled plastic cargo cover sheets for all Export Cargo shipments within its terminal. This marks a significant increase from its previous specifications of no less than 30% recycled content, positioning Cathay Cargo Terminal as a trailblazer in Hong Kong’s cargo industry.

The decision to implement these eco-friendly cover sheets follows extensive collaboration between Cathay Cargo Terminal and its supplier, culminating in the development of a sustainable solution that meets rigorous quality standards. Through laboratory testing and real-world trials conducted with customer Cathay Cargo in 2023, the efficacy and reliability of the new material were confirmed, paving the way for its official rollout.

Scheduled to commence this March 2024, the introduction of these recycled plastic cover sheets underscores Cathay Cargo Terminal’s steadfast commitment to sustainability. This initiative builds upon the terminal’s previous achievements, including its pioneering participation in the IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) program in October 2023. By aligning with globally recognized environmental and sustainability standards for the aviation industry, Cathay Cargo Terminal continues to lead by example in promoting eco-conscious practices.
